Product Description
This book challenges the notion that there is a single, global process of economic restructuring to which cities must submit. The studies in this volume compare urban development in the United States, Western Europe, and Japan, demonstrating that there is significant variety in urban economic restructuring. The contributors emphasize that the economic forces transforming cities from industrial concentrations to post industrial service centers do not exist apart from politics: all nation-states are heavily involved in the restructuring process. John R. Logan is Professor of Sociology at the State University of New York at Albany. Todd Swanstrom is Associate Professor of Political Science at the State University of New York at Albany and the author of "The Crisis of Growth Politics: Cleveland, Kucinich, and the Challenge of Urban Populism (Temple)". ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Really good corporate finance book - written in story format
This book reminds me of "The Goal" by Eliyahu M. Goldratt and Jeff Cox in that it is easy to read, has relevant examples and is written in story format. Normally, finance books are dense, hard to read texts that put me to sleep, but this one definitely stands head and shoulders above the rest. I already took other finance classes, but it's hard to memorize theory. A story of an entrepreneur and why he may find uses for various aspects of finance -- now, that's more memorable.

Overall, good book, but I wish there were more examples. This book attempts to simplify things a little too much, making it a little hard to apply to live financial statements. It'd be nice to have a solution manual, as well.

This is one of the few textbooks I will not be selling. It'll be a good book to refer to in the future and possibly even a decent book to read for fun. It's not a page turner like John Grisham's books, but then, what textbook is?

5-0 out of 5 stars Basic finance, nice reading
The book goes over all the relevant, basic financial issues that you need for running a business. It's told as a story, from the perspective of an entrepreneur. That makes it easy to read. Still it deals with the in depth frameworks and all relevant theories. A must read, for financials and especially non-financials who have to deal with financial topics! ... Read more

Product Description
A series of gruesome murders…

Bodies discarded, one piece at a time, along interstate highways…

An almost-total lack of clues…

FBI Special Agent Lukas Breyer has been given a task: find the killer. The media and the public are screaming for results. The entire expertise of the FBI is behind him, but there isn’t much to go on.

Patrick J. “PJ” O’Reiley, Jr., is also waiting for that killer to be found. He’s the prosecuting attorney in King County, Washington , where the first body was found and where, he hopes, the killer will be put on trial.

Ten years ago, the two men were Harvard Law classmates. Now, in the hunt for a killer the media has nicknamed The Washington Carver, their paths will cross again in a way neither of them ever imagined, and neither will ever forget.

WHAT READERS SAY: "Justice For All is amazing! Because of all the years I've been in investigations my mind is trained to automatically look for things—I almost can’t help it—but I have to honestly say there are no holes in the plot of Justice For All. All the bases are covered, but also the book tells the story of realistic people with believable personalities. It is such a great book!"

director of corporate investigations

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good!
I'm an award winning screenplay writer and filmmaker and have read countless scripts and books. This was the first story I've read in a long time that was executed in such a different way as far as character development and plot. Most stories start out trying to lay a solid sense of "setting" and "character" which in return usually starts out slow and boring. Only people who REALLY LOVE reading can handle those types of books.(In my opinion that's not good writing). A good book/movie is one where a person who hates books/movies will watch or read. 'Justice For All' starts out with a "Jet" plot; shooting off quickly into mystery, questions and suspense. In 2009 I don't have time to just sit and read crap for two hours about how someone dresses and what color there apartment is just to get "development". Like I'm really going skip watching 'CSI-Vegas' or "Wheel of fortune" for that! For someone who is producing full length feature movies; holding a full time job; going to college; has a girlfriend; travels around the country and really doesn't like reading novels...I still find time to read this! I also have the attention span of a coked up squirrel. What does that say??

5-0 out of 5 stars An up-and-coming author!
I'm biased, since I know the author, but this is a great story! And very well written! There are lots of ups and downs and twists and turns along the way to a very satisfying conclusion.

If you like John Grisham, or Richard North Patterson, or John Lescroart, then you'll like Justice For All! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Product Description
With the hilarious "Happy Valley," a story originally written by John Cleese and Connie Booth for Monty Python's Flying Circus, this third volume in an extraordinarily popular Mammoth Book series gets off to a suitably silly start. It continues merrily apace with "Attack of the Charlie Chaplins" by Garry Kilworth, visits "The Strawhouse Pavilion" by Ron Goulart, and takes in "A Bad Day on Mount Olympus" with Marilyn Todd. Along the way it introduces Esther Eisner's "Gunsel and Gretel" and Cherith Baldry's "Broadway Barbarian" and renews acquaintance with F. Anstey's "Ferdie." It bemuses as well as amuses with "A Case of Four Fingers" concocted by John Grant, not to mention "The Absolute and Utter Impossibility of the Facts in the Case of the Vanishing of Henning Vok" from Jack Adrian. And before this wildly comic romp ends, it discovers "Math Takes a Holiday" (Paul Di Filippo) and "Mother Duck Strikes Again" (Craig Shaw Gardner). Fantasy finds broad definition in this wackily comic tour. While some of the stories approach the domain of science fiction, others are lodged in an everyday reality. None of them, though, fails to entertain. Together, the more than thirty selections -- thirteen of them brand-new and the balance of them often rare finds or forgotten gems -- provide a fresh sampling of comic genius in the sphere of fantasy fiction and a wide range of tales to suit every taste in humor. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Wonder? Breed? How Foul is your Seed??
What to expect from "The Mammoth Book of Awesome Comic Fantasy"--a mosaic of waggish rogues and wayward wizards, misinformed planet-skippers, and would-be assassins in the grain...and from the skies. I recommend reading the book starting with the hyperactive final tale, "You'll Never Walk Alone Again"; its frenetic rhythm demands your perception be sharply angled! "Put Down that Universe!" is the second-to-last tale and features characters equally extraordinary and intriguing. Other meritorious additions: "Dragonet", "Nothing in the Rules", "How Much Would You Pay?","Math Takes a Holiday", "Polly Put the Mockers On", and "The Absolute and Utter Impossibility of the Facts in the Case of the Vanishing of Henning Vok"...On the flip side, skip "Ferdie", "Milord Sir Smiht...", "Touched By a Salesman", "The Swords and the Stones", "Fair Weather Fiend" and "Mother Duck Strikes Again". TEDIOUS!! Overall, great book...

1-0 out of 5 stars One more in a series of ... books
What is with these British anthologizers? How perverse a talent it is to find short, comedic stories which are not funny. Sweet merciful heavens this guy found a John Cleese story that was tedious. Imagine how hard you must work to find a tedious John Cleese anything. At least in this volume you can tell that most of the authors were trying to be at least a little funny. ... Read more
