Product Description
On March 15, 1976, a significant stronghold and foundation of sexism began to crumble when the first male stripper took the stage of the Lake Geneva Sugar Shack.Dana Montana, past and present owner and operator of the Sugar Shack, struck a blow that severed the sacred soul of the position that men have taken throughout human history: that a woman is a man's possession, to be exploited economically, emotionally, politically and sexually. What Hugh Hefner offered men, Dana Montana provided for women. She turned the tables on the sex exploitation industry.

Among the many hallmarks of the American Feminist movement, Dana Montana's courageous and contentious decision to provide sexual fantasy fulfillment for women, sent a social seismic wave through our culture that continues to generate aftershocks.Ms. Montana was not driven by a desire to rise to the forefront of a great cause; she was driven to fulfill the most basic of human needs--to love and be loved, and the most fundamental of all needs--to survive. Will she be remembered in the same breath as Susan B. Anthony, who wrote and submitted to congress the right-to-vote amendment? She should be.Now, over twenty years later, it is time to look back, at the life of Dana Montana and assess her influence on the world we live in today.

When Betty Friedan's, The Feminine Mystique, was published in 1963, provoking the second significant wave of the American Feminist movement, Dana Montana was being fitted for a "Bunny" costume at the Chicago Playboy Club.Although the consciousness of the country was being raised regarding women's rights issues, Dana was positioning herself to exploit her particular personal assets in an institutionalized bastion of antifeminism; Playboy International, Inc.During the next ten years, rapidly changing events, both in Dana's personal life and in the moral life of our country, eventually led to a Monday evening in March when Elliot Lanzanna, for the first time ever, began to strip away one of the most significant barriers blocking equality for women in America and in the World. ... Considering the development of Chinese-European relations since China embarked on its open policy, these papers suggest that political relations have not significantly modified Europe's relations with China. They imply that Europe and China tend to view their relations with each other in terms of their relationships with the U.S. Articles include: Human Rights, Europe and the People's Republic of China; Diplomatic Relations and Mutual Strategic Perceptions: China and the European Union; Economic Relations between Taiwan and Europe; and Cultural Relations between China and the Member States of the European Union. ... Product Description
"UN Voices" presents the human and moving stories of an extraordinary group of individuals who contributed to the economic and social record of the UN's life and activities. Drawing from extensive interviews, the book presents in their own words the experiences of 73 individuals from around the globe who have spent much of their professional lives engaged in United Nations affairs. We hear from secretaries-general and presidents, ministers and professors, social workers and field workers, as well as diplomats and executive heads of UN agencies. Among those interviewed are noted figures such as Kofi Annan, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Alister McIntyre, Conor Cruise O'Brien, Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Kurt Waldheim, as well as many less well known UN professional men and women who have made significant contributions to the international struggle for a better world.Their personal accounts also engage their contributions in dealing with such events and issues as the UN's founding, decolonization, the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, human rights, the environment, and September 11, 2001. Thomas G.Weiss is Presidential Professor of Political Science at The CUNY Graduate Center and Director of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, where he is co-director of the United Nations Intellectual History Project and editor of Global Governance. His latest books are: "Ahead of the Curve? 5-0 out of 5 stars A surprisingly stimulating, indeed exciting read.
On a potentially arid topic, the authors perform a minor miracle by relying not only on their own analysis of ideas as they developed at the UN since 1945 but also by quoting a large number of relevant and diverse voices of those who participated in shaping international thinking at the UN on development policy, human rights, the humanitarian impertative and humanitatian action, and the links between security and development. The book, which I originally obtained for research purposes, planning to seek out information in a targeted way, proved impossible to put down.A major achievement of readability and policy relevance telling a sweeping story of intellectual development, and one of great importance to citizens of the world all over the globe.Students of the World Bank and other development agencies, as well as those focusing on the UN more narrowly, definitely will gain from consulting this volume. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Nice gem I found at a second best store.
I found this book at a Savers where I live. I am not protestant, I am Orthodox and am a student of Eschatology. This book is dated but thats what makes it very nice, you get a glimpse into the past and learn about some things that were going on that are not talked of today. The author clearly does have a protestant bias to scriptural understanding, but is very observant when it comes to the world around him, so credit must be given there. If anyone is interested in studying precursors to the antichrist and modern cults this book discusses Father Divine, the first of modern cult leaders who thought himself to be God, and was quite famous amongst many people. Overall it is a pretty good read, and I enjoyed it very much. ... Read more

Product Description
This work focuses on the environmental development of three African capital cities - Accra, Harare and Gaborone - and their water and waste services. All are former colonial British capitals, and share similarities in their relative affluence amongst other African nations; however the contributors establish that each has a deteriorating urban environment despite efforts to provide public services. Examining similarities in public policy, market environments, and policy successes and failures, the contributors highlight three differing approaches to water and waste provisions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent/information and encouragement
I think every home should have this beautiful book, it gives God's remedies for most disease and encouragement, all natural.

3-0 out of 5 stars Perfectfor Christian Faith healing
Very disapointed. This book may be very helpful and informative but I can't get past the blatant religious tone.I can not take this info seriously because it is based on the bible and is FILLED with direct Bible quotes and common sense advice. This oversized and well made book will be perfect for those not offended by "in your face Christianity".I am not against religion but I did not expect this format, title is deceiving. I am returning the book and hoping to find a book about natural remedies and not based on faith. ... Read more
