Excerpt: Friedrich Hans Ulrich Mühe (German pronunciation: ) (20 June 1953 22 July 2007) was a German film, television and theatre actor. He played the role of Hauptmann (Captain) Gerd Wiesler in the Oscar-winning film Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others, 2006), for which he received the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Gold, at Germany's most prestigious film awards, the Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Awards); and the Best Actor Award at the 2006 European Film Awards. Curiously, events in Mühe's life were mirrored by the plot of the film, as he discovered in a Stasi file compiled on him that he had been under surveillance by his second wife, Jenny Gröllmann. Gröllmann denied this, and after an acrimonious and highly-publicized court case she succeeded in obtaining an injunction to prevent Mühe from repeating the allegation in a book. After leaving school, Mühe was employed as a construction worker and a border guard at the Berlin Wall. He then turned to acting, and from the late 1970s into the 1980s appeared in numerous plays, becoming a star of the Deutsches Theater in East Berlin. He was active in politics and denounced Communist rule in East Germany in a memorable address at the Alexanderplatz demonstration on 4 November 1989 shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall. After German reunification he continued to appear in a large number of films, television programmes and theatre productions. In Germany he was particularly known for playing the lead role of Dr. Robert Kolmaar in the long-r...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=4806928 ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Albert I (c. 1175 - 7 October 1260) was a Duke of Saxony, Angria, and Westphalia; Lord of Nordalbingia; Count of Anhalt; and Prince-elector and Archmarshal of the Holy Roman Empire. Even though his grandfather Albert the Bear had held the Saxon dukedom between 1138 and 1142, this Albert is counted as the first. A member of the House of Ascania, Albert was the oldest son of Bernard III, Duke of Saxony, and Brigitte of Denmark, daughter of Canute V of Denmark. Albert supported Otto IV, Holy Roman Emperor, in his wars against the Hohenstaufen. In 1218 Albert's maternal uncle Prince-Archbishop Valdemar of Denmark, who had been deposed from his Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen, found refuge in Saxony, before he joined the Loccum Abbey as monk. On 22 July 1227 Albert I asserted as fellow victor in the Battle of Bornhöved, commanding the Holy Roman left flank, his earlier disputed rank as liege lord of the Counts of Schauenburg and Holstein, a privilege, however, lost by his successor John V in 1474. After Bornhöved Albert reinforced and extended his fortress and castle in Lauenburg upon Elbe, which his father Bernard had erected in 1182. ... Read more

Excerpt: Fra Dolcino (c. 1250 1307) was an Italian preacher burnt at the stake in 1307, and often described as being a heretic inspired by the Franciscan theories. The origins of Fra Dolcino and his real name are a subject of constant debate among historians. One view is that he belonged to the wealthy Tornielli family of Novara, while another view is that he was the illegitimate son of a priest fled from Vercelli to escape punishment for some small burglaries. Recent researches of Orioli presents a plausible theory on the argument: the paper of the Anonymous Synchronous written shortly after the facts, identifies him as nomine Dulcinus, filius presbyteri Iulii de Tarecontano Vallis Ossole diocesis Novariensis (name Dulcinus, son of presbyter Julius from Tarecontano of the Ossola Valley in the diocese of Novara); a few years later the inquisitor Bernardo Gui in his work reports the same information changing the word presbyteri in sacerdotis (priest) thus concluding that he was the illegitimate son of a priest. The research of Orioli shows that De Julio Presbitero was the name of a wealthy family of Vercelli belonging to the Ghibellines often married with members of the Tornielli family of...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=251327 ... While pregnant with Anna, her mother Luise left Saxony on 9 December 1902 without her children. Anna was born during her parent's separation and after her birth, Luise sent the infant to the royal court in Dresden where she was raised with her five siblings by her father Frederick Augustus. It is said that Anna was the daughter of André Giron, her siblings' French tutor with whom her mother briefly lived.
