What are the 3 most important elements of this situation? What characteristics do the elements have in common? What characteristics do the elemtns not have in common? 4. What makes Venns very interesting is the overlap areas. It's fairly easy to put labels on each of the 3 circles. but it's the overlap areas that stimulate the person, at least in the way we use Venn Diagrams at TeleClass.com and Coach University The overlap areas are even more poweful than the circles themselves. Life occurs in the overlap areas. The overlap areas are where the 'truth' is. So, one uses Venn Diagrams to identify or presence truth. 5. Ask yourself these questions to help label the overlap areas are:

Lyrics and Performance by Vicki Young
Melody: "John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith" John Venn was a clever little man, He made up those diagrams. Now you can use them, too, Just like he used to do, To sort data and show logic without end! La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la! Start with a circle for each set. Examine the attributes. Find traits that are the same And differences to name To produce a Venn set that tells the truth! La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la! Two sets that share a common trait Must share a region, too. But if they are disjoint, To separate circles point Label regions and then you will be through! La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Contents of this Page Egyptian Arithmetic The Venn Diagram Arithmetic Around the World: Multiplication Rules for Divisibility Egyptian Arithmetic The Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to use mathematics in an extensive setting. Their system was derived from base ten and this was probably so because of the number of fingers and toes. In later years the Greeks would use the abstract qualities of math, however, it appears the Egyptians were only concerned with the practical aspects of numbers. For example while the Greeks might actually use see and think the number six, the Egyptians would need concrete items such as such as six sphinxes. Egyptian numbers were represented by symbols in the following way: a rod for the number one, a heal bone for ten, a snare for 100, a lotus flower for 1,000, a bent finger for 10,000, a burbot fish for 100,000, and a kneeling figure for 1,000,000. Symbol a rod a heel bone a snare a lotus flower a pointing finger a burbot fish a kneeling figure Their number system worked very well when doing addition or subtraction. The numbers were grouped together in no particular order and the operation was performed. In one example, from the Rhind Papyrus, addition and subtraction signs were represented through figures which resemble the legs of a person advancing for addition, and departing for subtraction.

HOW ARE PHYSICAL DISABILITIES AND HEALTH IMPAIRMENTS DEFINED?
Used in the special education context, physical disability or orthopedic impairment includes severe disabilities that adversely affect educational performance. There is a diverse range of disabilities in this category including such conditions as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, amputations or limb absences, and muscular dystrophy. According to Connor, Scandary, and Tulloch (1988), "the physiological and functional problems of this population are complex and diverse, and their handicaps may be temporary, intermittent, chronic, progressive, or terminal" (p. 7). The term special health impairment refers to a variety of health problems that dictate the need for special medical or educational services. Health impairments include convulsive disorders, cystic fibrosis, heart disease, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, asthma, rheumatic fever, cancer, AIDS, or any other chronic or acute health problem that limits strength, vitality, or alertness and adversely affects the student's educational development. Approximately 1.3% (58,328) of all students receiving special education services are orthopedically impaired, while 1.2% (52,658) are counted as other health impaired (Tenth Annual Report to Congress, 1988).

Abstract: Venn diagrams and Euler circles have long been used to express constraints on sets and their relationships with other sets. However, these notations can get very cluttered when we consider many closed curves or contours. In order to reduce this clutter, and to focus attention within the diagram appropriately, the notion of a projected contour, or projection, is introduced. Informally, a projected contour is a contour describes a set of elements limited to a certain context. Through a series of... (Update)
