I am Barry Johnson, Ph.D., representing the Environmental and Health Program, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR). PSR has had a long-standing concern about hazards in the environment and the importance of physician education about them. We welcome the opportunity to brief the Subcommittee on matters of environmental health. Prior to my retirement in 1999 as a commissioned officer in the Public Health Service, I served as Assistant Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), which was created under the Superfund Law of 1980. I am currently Adjunct Professor of Public Health, Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta. I am also Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Human and Ecological Risk Assessment I have previously testified several times before Congress on matters of hazardous substances in the environment and their consequences to the public’s health. Johnson, Ph.D., Assistant Surgeon General Assistant Administrator, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry Public Health Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Before the Subcommittee on Clean Air, Wetlands, Private Property, and Nuclear Safety Committee on Environment and Public Works United States Senate October 1, 1998 Good afternoon. I am Barry Johnson, Ph.D., Assistant Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). The subcommittee invited ATSDR to testify on regional haze and mercury pollution. Our Agency has had no involvement with regional haze but has worked on various mercury issues. Much of our work on the scientific issues of mercury pollution is reflected in the ATSDR draft Toxicological Profile for Mercury. ATSDR has developed a toxicological profile on mercury in compliance with a mandate in the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, as amended (CERCLA, or Superfund). Section 104(i)(3) directs us to develop toxicological profiles for priority hazardous substances released from Superfund sites. Our priority list of hazardous substances is developed jointly with EPA and updated every 2 years. Mercury is number three on the 1997 list. ATSDR is also required by CERCLA (_104(i)(3)) to revise and republish individual toxicological profiles as necessary, but no less often than once every 3 years. CERCLA also requires that ATSDR's toxicological profiles contain "An examination, summary, and interpretation of available toxicological information and epidemiologic evaluations on a hazardous substance in order to ascertain the levels of significant human exposure for the substance and the associated acute, subacute, and chronic health effects." This language directs ATSDR to develop numerical estimates of health risks posed by hazardous substances. Health assessors and risk managers use numerical values to characterize the toxicities of hazardous substances. Risk assessment methods are most often used for carcinogenic substances. This results in point estimates or ranges of health risk that are based on various exposure scenarios. ATSDR uses the numerical minimal risk levels (MRLs) for noncarcinogenic toxicities of substances.

She is built from the the " Toto " double paddle canoe design by Jim Michalak . Jim calls it a Canoe, I call it a Kayak. I started a little late in the game with the photos, but I believe they'll give the gist of how she goes together. Oh yeah, "How did you come up with 'Lilly' for name?", you ask. Well, there is a beautiful stand of Day Lilies out in front of our old barn. They really look lovely as they bloom this time of the year. This boat has really started "blooming" about the same time, so I thought it was good fit. To see what it is going to look like when it is finished, Go Here . William's full name may have been William Franklin and he was born in South Carolina between 1770 and 1774. William Easley was listed in the 1800 census for Greenville District S.C. Sarah Graham family had come from North Carolina. Green Berry Easley lived in South Carolina but by 1804 had moved to Warren Co, Kentucky. In 1815 Allen Co., Ky was formed from parts of Warren and Barren Cos and in the 1820 census the family is in Allen Co., Ky. In 1830 and 1840 the family is in the census of Boone Co., Mo. William and Sarah Easley and their children were the first branch of the Easley family in American to pioneer in Missouri. Green Berry Easley married Apr 23, 1837, Boone Co., Mo Evaline Johnson. Evaline was born Feb 15, 1818 in Tenn and died January 31, 1864 in Barry Co., Mo. They were married by Nelson A. Davis. Green Berry and Evaline Easley became significant landowners in Barry Co near the White River. It is told that their home was near where Roaring River joined White River. Part of their land is now covered by the Table Rock Lake. Green Berry and Evaline were recorded in the 1840 census for Barry Co., Mo. According to the probate of his estate, Green Berry Easley, when he died left 667 acres of real estate, almost $600 worth of person property and almost $1000 worth of notes due to him.
