The typical weather data sets are numerical, massive, low-level (spatially distributed temperature, pressure, wind velocity data) and are produced by number crunching supercomputers. Here is a sample data set: We are working on representations and algorithms that can extract meaningful weather features (such as cold/warm fronts and their evolution) from the numerical data sets. We plan to build articulable models using these spatial-temporal features for the purposes of generating explanations and computer based tutoring.
