As Salaamu Alaykum
Peace upon you and welcome to the online home of the Qadiri Rifai Sufi Order
We are a traditional, Islamic order whose origins started with two great Saints of early Sufism: Abdul Qadir al Geylani and Ahmed ar Rifai. Our Tradition is one of inclusiveness and of welcoming. As Sufi poet Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi (circa 1200 ACE) says; In this site we present our understanding on the issues and knowledge inherent to a spiritual path from a Sufi perspective. We have divided this information into four sections. In the section titled Qadiri Rifai Sufi Order you will find information on our purpose, our history and our teachers. The Path of Sufism contains information that is common to most Sufi orders in the world. Guidance to the Path is an introduction to the basic practices we give to Qadiri Rifai students who wish to walk the Sufi path. The Virtual Dergah includes a calendar of activities carried out by our order, our online bookstore, contact information and a donation form. "Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, unbeliever, fire worshiper. Ours is not a caravan of desperation. Come even if you have broken your vows a thousand times, Come. Come again."

Here is a selection of some Islamic Sufi turuq on the World Wide Web. Tasawwuf (Sufism) is the Islamic science of "Ikhlas," or sincerity. Sufis emphasize personal spiritual experience while still holding strongly to the Shari`ah. Below, you can find web pages to the following Sufi tariqas, along with some short descriptions of their history and the activities they are involved in today.
Check out their web pages for more detailed information!
The Ba'Alawi tariqa The silsila (spiritual lineage) of the Ba'Alawi tariqa comes through southern Arabia and the tribe of Bani `Alawi. This branch of the Ba'Alawi tariqa is centered in South Africa, based at the al-Zawiya masjid in Cape Town, and is under the guidance of Shaykhs Seraj and Ahmad Hendricks. On this page, you can find various writings about the Ba'Alawi tariqa, including some of its history, as well as excellent articles on tasawwuf and Islam. Sufi - The Kadiri Tayyari Sufi Order of North America
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. This web site is a beacon, its' light comes from a treasure that has found me, a treasure that I wish to share with everyone. He is the Insan Kamil Sheikh, my Efendim, Abdulkadir Tayyari.
On this site you will find words of seekers trying to explain that which is difficult to explain, the heart's connection to a fragrant Rose that is a gift to all, but is just on the other side of a threshold, a place that you have to ask in a special way, to enter.
The events on this web page will be your correspondence with the Tayyari Order and possibly with our Beloved, Sheikh Abdulkadir. In fact we encourage your queries.
The dzikr page will let you hear, in an abbreviated fashion, a moment of hearts on fire, a remembering of Allah.
The 'sobhet' will give a sense of the wisdom and understanding of a dervish.
And at all times Efendim Abdulkadir is present.

Wij prijzen Allaahu Ta`ala en vragen Zijn hulp en vergiffenis. Wij zoeken onze toevlucht bij Allaahu Ta`ala voor al het kwade die van de shaytan (satan) en onze nafs (ego) komt. Be Lost in the Call Lord, said David, since you do not need us,
why did you create these two worlds? Reality replied: O prisoner of time, I was a secret treasure of kindness and generosity, and I wished this treasure to be known, so I created a mirror: its shining face, the heart; its darkened back, the world; The back would please you if you've never seen the face. Has anyone ever produced a mirror out of mud and straw? Yet clean away the mud and straw, and a mirror might be revealed. Until the juice ferments a while in the cask

Triangle Sufi Center International Sufi Movement, America Home to the Universal Sufism of Hazrat Inayat Khan The Triangle Sufi Center is associated with the International Sufi Movement founded by Hazrat Inayat Khan. The goal of the Triangle Sufi Center is to share the ideas and experiences of Universal Sufism to those in the local (North Carolina Triangle) and Internet communities. Sufism, the religion of the heart, employs universal mysticism to experience directly, the God within and the God without. Once the doors of the heart are open, the feeling of humility awakens, finding oneself face to face with the Divine Presence, the living God within. - Pir O Murshid Hidayat Inayat-Khan When thou art before me, my Beloved, I rise upon wings and my burden becometh light; But when my little self riseth before my eyes, I drop to the earth and all its weight falleth upon me. - Hazrat Inayat Khan As the experience of unity with the essence, with the spirit of the whole creation, mysticism is basically the same in all religions. It is the unifying core in all religions. Ways and methods to approach this experience may differ, but the ultimate experience is one; and this unity radiates through all inner religious experience. - Murshid Karimbakhsh Witteveen A human being is a part of the whole, called by us "Universe"; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison.

Tell me when this page is updated SOUTH ASIAN HISTORY Pages from the history of the Indian sub-continent: Islamic Religion and Culture, Sufism Sufi Currents and Civilization in the Islamic Courts No serious examination of the civilizations that flourished in the courts of the Islamic rulers is possible without an understanding of Sufi currents that played a vital - even decisive role in shaping the cultural output of the great Islamic empires. As any student of world history may note, civilization typically comes to a grinding halt wherever the writ of a revealed religion runs supreme. For any civilization to blossom, there has to be a certain intellectual and cultural space that is relatively free from dogma and hidebound traditions. In the earliest examples of the Islamic courts, particularly during the reign of the Abbasids in Baghdad, there was an informal separation of church and state and Arab civilization was able to make important gains , drawing inputs from a variety of eclectic sources - both indigenous and external (such as Indian and Mediterranean). But once the paramountcy of the Quran and the Shariat laws began to be more strictly enforced - the Islamic courts needed some alternate current to prevent the newly established Islamic societies from slipping into the dark ages as had occurred in the Christian kingdoms of early medieval Europe. Sufism thus emerged as a protestant and liberalizing current, that eventually became the primary vehicle for intellectual advance and the dissemination of culture in societies governed by Islamic sovereigns.

Living Presence

A Sufi Way to Mindfulness
Kabir Edmund Helminski

What Sufism Is
S ufism is a way of life in which a deeper identity is discovered and lived. This deeper identity, beyond the already known personality, is in harmony with all that exists. This deeper identity, or essential self, has abilities of awareness, action, creativity and love that are far beyond the abilities of the superficial personality. Eventually it is understood that these abilities belong to a greater life and being which we individualize in our own unique way while never being separate from it.
Sufism is less a doctrine or a belief system than an experience and way of life. It is a tradition of enlightenment that carries the essential truth forward through time. Tradition, however, must be conceived in a vital and dynamic sense. Its expression must not remain limited to the religious and cultural forms of the past. The truth of Sufism requires reformulation and fresh expression in every age.
Reformulation does not mean that Sufism will compromise its challenge to a stubbornly materialistic society. It is and will remain a critic of "worldliness" by which it is meant everything that causes us to be forgetful of the Divine reality. It is and must be a way out of the labyrinth of a secular, commercial culture. Most importantly, however, it is an invitation to meaningfulness and well-being.

The Violent Truth Behind The Sufi Mask
Following is a presentation of excerpts taken from Sita Ram Goel's works. M any Hindus have been misled, mostly by their own soft-headed scholars, to cherish the fond belief that the Sufis were spiritual seekers, and that unlike the Mullahs, they loved Hindu religious lore and liked their Hindu neighbours. The Chistiyya Sufis in particluar have neem chosen for such fulsome praise. The orthodox among the Muslims protest that the Sufis are being slandered. But the Hindus remains convinced that they themselves know better. Professor Aziz Ahmad is a renowned scholar of Islam in India. He clinches the matter in the following words : "In Indian sufism anti-Hindu polemics started with Muinal-din Chisti. Early sufis in Punjab and early Chistis devoted themselves to the task of conversion on a large scale. Missionary activity slowed down under Nizam al-din Auliya, not because of any new concept of eclecticism, but because he held that the Hindus were generally excluded from grace and could not be easily converted to Islam unless they had the opportunity to be in the company of the Muslim saints for considerable time." Of course, the Auliya who lived in a sprawling khanqah and re- ceived rich gifts out of plunder was convinced that he himself was such a Muslim saint. His temper and teachings can be known easily from die, writings of Amir Khusru, the poet, and Ziauddin Barani, the historian. Both of them were leading disciples of the Auliya. Both of them ex- press a great hatred for Hindus, and regret that the Hanafl school of Islamic Law had come in the way of wiping out completely the
