Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov won one of the first prizes of the contest The mayor of the Russian capital was the runner-up in the nomination the Most Egregiously Stupid Award. New Terrorist Offensive From South America?
PRAVDA.Ru published November of last year an article about intelligence reports on terrorist activities in South America, specifically in the area known as the "Triple Border" between Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.
This area, very well known as a black-market paradise, contains one of the most important Arab communities outside Middle East. It is also said that the numerous mosques operate as gathering centers for different terrorist organizations, such as Hezbollah, El Gamaat al Islamiyad, and Islamic Jihad. These groups are well-known targets of the CIA for supposed links with Al Qaeda.
After the bomb attacks on the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992 and a Jewish community club in 1994, Argentine intelligence services have been investigating in the area. The CIA and the FBI also collaborated by sending agents to the region after a poster of Iguazú Falls, the most important tourist attraction in the area, was found inside an Al Qaeda bunker in Afghanistan.
CNN reported on its Spanish version that, according to intelligence sources, a kind of terrorist summit took place in the Triple Border about two months ago to coordinate actions against US and Israeli interests in the Western hemisphere. CNN also reported that such meetings were held in the outskirts of Ciudad del Este, in the Paraguayan side.

GE Transportation Systems recently improved its entire environmental, health and safety program in Contagem, Brazil, and was able to achieve a 25% reduction in its recordable injury rate. The program's success is largely due to the use of Six Sigma.
"What we've been able to achieve is just incredible," says Robiana Gomes, EHS leader and Six Sigma Greenbelt at GE Transportation Systems. "Nine months ago, we didn't have a consistent environmental, health and safety program. So, we implemented 21 Six Sigma projects to support this initiative. The projects involved teams in manufacturing, engineering as well as health and safety-and brought direct benefits to customers, the environment, contractors and our employees." One example of success is how the company re-energized its training program. The goal of the training was to minimize accidents in the workplace by increasing personnel's awareness of and involvement in environmental, health and safety. This was achieved by creating a training program that included status and assessment. Now, employees are more educated and committed to making the plant sites safer places to work. The company's recordable injury rate decreased 25% from 2000 to 2001.

The Muslim-majority state of Pakistan occupies an area which was home to some of the earliest human settlements and two of the world's major religions, Hinduism and Buddhism.
The modern state was born out of the partition of the Indian sub-continent in 1947 and has faced both domestic political upheavals and regional confrontations. OVERVIEW
FACTS
LEADERS MEDIA Created to meet the demands of Indian Muslims for their own homeland, Pakistan was originally in two parts. The east wing - present-day Bangladesh - is on the Bay of Bengal bordering India and Burma and the west wing - present-day Pakistan - stretches from the Himalayas down to the Arabian Sea. War with India over the disputed northern territory of Kashmir came shortly after independence - the two countries fought again in 1965. The break-up of the two wings came in 1971 when the predominantly Bengali-speaking east wing seceded with help from India.
