FishWatch
What is FishWatch?
FishWatch is an aquatic and fisheries focused educational program established to elevate awareness of the importance for fish and clean water; encourage an interest and excitement for fish viewing; provide fish viewing opportunities; and provide opportunities for volunteers and partnerships to play a role in the conservation of our aquatic resources. Program goals and objectives: To provide aquatic environmental education and interpretation programs and materials to Forest Service employees, schools, and partners. Program sponsors and partners: Every Forest Service dollar invested in cooperative projects in 1995, was matched by $1.50 in partner cash, materials, or skilled labor. Through these cooperative efforts the agency accomplished as a percent of their total accomplishment: 44% of the aquatic education presentations and 45% of the multi-media education products produced. Hundreds of partners participate in FishWatch programs. Target audience: The target audience are the American public and international travelers of all ages interested in viewing, learning, photographing, and conserving our precious aquatic resources.

Bora Bora Bora Bora Lagoon Resort Club Med Bora Bora Sofitel Marara Sofitel Motu ... Le Maitai Polynesia Le Meridien, Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort The Most Beautiful Island In The World So much has been written about Bora Bora that it's hard to describe its magic in the little room we have. The view of the island from the window of an Air Tahiti flight has been compared to that of "a tiny emerald in a setting of turquoise, encircled by a protective necklace of sparkling pearls". The airport is built on a palm fringed motu approximately 20 minutes by motor launch from the main village of Vaitape. The view of the main island from the motu is truly spectacular, and as you travel across it you'll soon discover why Bora Bora's world famous lagoon is the center of interest for most visitors to the island. Activities include island tours, glass bottom boats, guided reef walking excursions, motu picnics, sunset cruises, snorkeling, scuba diving and the popular shark feeding excursion - where from the water you watch as local divers feed the small 4 to 5 foot well fed and non-threatening lagoon sharks by hand. Bora Bora Accommodations: BORA BORA LAGOON RESORT Bora Bora Resort Lagoon, is located at the tip of Motu Toopua, the hotel's private island, facing the village of Vaitape. Operated by Orient Express Hotels, the resort blends understated elegance and authentic Polynesian charm with an attention to detail found only in the world's greatest hotels. Guests have the choice of staying in luxurious over water, beachfront or garden bungalows equipped with mini-bar, private safe, telephone, multi-channel TV and large private bathrooms with double sinks and separate bath and shower. Some of the bungalows are air conditioned. There are three restaurants, a pool bar and a cocktail lounge. Complimentary outriggers, snorkeling, wind surfers, small sailboats and Hobbie Cats are all available at the sports fare, and a fitness center is located in the games fare.

are the two most popular activities for visitors to the Belizean Cayes. The Cayes are the local term for the limestone islands and coral atolls that are scattered along the length of Belize's barrier reef system, the second largest in the world. It stretches from Mexico almost down to Guatemala. The reef itself is made up of living corals and supports a diverse marine eco-system that is one of the most pristine in the world. There are shallow reefs for snorkeling and deeper ones for scuba diving, something for anyone who wants to get wet and see first hand what is actually down there. If you are a non-diver you can get your diving certification during your visit from one of the many dive facilities in Belize. For more information about learning to scuba dive, click here.

This complex marine ecosystem also supports tourism and commercial fishing, the economic foundation of the Florida Keys. In the last 20 years the tourism industry has grown to over four million domestic and foreign visitors who drive, fly or cruise each year to the most accessible tropical paradise in the Caribbean Basin. The Keys support 82,000 full-time residents. Tourists and semi-permanent residents increase this population by 75% during "season" (November to April). This ecosystem's extensive nursery, feeding and breeding grounds also support a multi-million dollar commercial fishing industry that lands nearly 20 million pounds of seafood and marine products annually.

April 4-10, 2003 Proposed Federal Manatee Zones Could Drastically Change Florida Angling
Anglers could be delayed by up to 3 1/2 hours, permanently, in round trips on the Caloosahatchee River at Fort Myers under proposed federal manatee zones, according to reports from a Lee County environmental staffer and a separate study from an engineer for the marine industry. The long additional putt-putt time would be caused by requirements that boats remain off-plane in three segments of the waterway from a point some four miles east of downtown south to the Sanibel Causeway. Still another half-hour, and more, in slow zones would be involved in "buffer" areas next to 25-mph corridors in parts of the zones. Justin McBride of Lee County and engineer Pat Riley conducted the studies, which vary according to which existing regulations are considered.

Designed by:
Madison Web Factory, LLC.
RECREATIONAL SWIM TEAMS
Get that Team Feeling! SwimWest Recreational Swim Team's focus is individual instruction and stroke development. Swim Team is in a fun and challenging atmosphere that builds swim skills, self confidence, and team spirit. Swim teams are made up of different age groups. Children are able to participate 1 - 5 days a week which develops endurance and speed. Our goal for this program is to continue to teach stroke techniques as well as introduce children to competition. Swim meets are planned throughout the year. All participants will receive recognition and rewards. Why you should have your swimmer join the SwimWest Teams? This is the next step after swimming lessons and helps swimmers consider the competitive side of swimming. There will be emphasis on stroke techniques, which makes the strokes longer and faster to build endurance. The difference of the SwimWest Swim Team to other programs is that we focus on fun, not "all work and no play". The social aspect provides children with the option of making new friends, gaining self-confidence and mostly building team spirit. We are a recreational swim team and do not compete against other schools. The children do not have to compete if they do not desire to.
