In this component we will be exploring the integration of subject gateway resources into reading lists, thus supporting the re-use of resource descriptions. A short description of this work item as submitted to JISC is available. We will be using UML to explore the functionality of the reading list tool for subject gateways.

Subject Gateways do not operate in isolation but rather within the wider educational environment and particularly educational institutions. Below is a list of software for the management of reading lists within Universities. Integration of subject gateway records into other external frameworks is an important theme which we are exploring since exploitation of records through their re-use adds to their value.

    Seminars and Recommended Reading Lists
The Center for Story and Symbol is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. The Center maintains responsibility for the programs. CE hours are accepted by the California MCEP program. Courses are presented at an introductory level for doctoral psychologists; these seminars are useful for those interested in archetypal perspectives. Center courses are approved for Psychologists, MFTs, LCSWs, and RNs.
Beloved of the Soul - Seeking the Inner Union
Love stories from folklore reflect psychological life in amazing detail. We will use an archetypal perspective on tales of desire and devotion to glimpse unconscious issues. Both idealization and discontent can represent underlying issues. Our primary focus is on the inner life of the individual, not couple issues. This course explores how the symbolic journey is revealed in classic courtship tales.
    - Description and Day Schedule

    - Selections from the reading list
This is a day on using movies to understand psychological issues. With support, people can evoke qualities enacted by characters, such as courage, tenderness, intelligence, or flexibility. Instruction shows how to reflect on films for symbols and metaphors that illustrate personal challenges.

    - Selections from the reading list
    Through the Dark Forest
reveals the guidance to be found in ordeal stories. During periods of high stress, emotional resources may seem inadequate, even for a mature adult. We will discuss how tales of survival can help in times of trouble.

    a) General Histories of the Revolution
The books and articles listed under the seminar readings may be backed up by relevant reading drawn from general histories of the Revolution, which are legion. Two excellent introductions to general interpretations are G. Lewis, The French Revolution: Rethinking the Debate (1993) and, in contrast, T.C.W. Blanning, The French Revolution: Aristocrats vs Bourgeois? ( 1987). The most authoritative up-to-date general history is W. Doyle, The Oxford History of the French Revolution (1989), while the best up-to-date short history is Alan Forrest, The French Revolution (1992) - though J.M. Roberts, The French Revolution (1978), similarly compact, is another even-handed account. On a grand scale, consult G. Lefebvre, The French Revolution (2 vols., 1962), taken further by A. Soboul

    Celtic Studies Reading Lists
Last updated 8/1/2000 These are not exhaustive lists, by any means. I've tried to list standard sources that are relatively easy to find and fairly reliable. There are lots of excellent books I haven't listed, and lots I don't know about. Every book here that is specifically Celtic in scope is by an author who reads at least one of the Celtic languages. All of the books have a brief annotation, and I've linked longer reviews of some of the books. Most of these books are available in paperback. Many of these are available at your local independent or national chain bookstore, at Amazon.com, or at the specialist book seller for Celtic scholars and students, Books for Scholars . I'm an Amazon Associate , and have included links to the Amazon catalog page should you want to order a book online. In many cases you'll find it is cheaper to purchase books from your local independent book seller, and many of the scholarly books are imported and you will probably only be able to get them from a specialist book store like Books for Scholars . I've also begun collecting a few longer book reviews The reading list for Celtic cultural history includes titles about Celtic mythology in general; the

Designed as a companion piece to Indiana's new academic standards for English/language arts, the selections in the Indiana Reading List illustrate the quality and complexity of the materials to be read by students at each grade level. The Indiana Reading List is not required reading for students nor is it meant to be all-inclusive.
