http://www.dcviews.com/tutors/tt57810.htm
InitStyle('tutors',2);
Panorama pictures
The appeal of panorama pictures is that they show a wide sweeping view which can make a scene look totally different from real life. Position your camera on a level surface or a tripod. Failing this you could try handholding it but make sure you stand still and steady in one spot during the whole sequence. Keep the camera close to your body and rotate it evenly. Overlap frames by 30 to 50% , to avoid having to clone in missing parts later. Try to keep moving objects out of frame and set a small aperture for large DOF. Determine one exposure setting for the whole scene to keep brightness levels the same throughout. For the same reason do not take panorama shots when a dramatic change in light levels is to be expected before you have finished your sequence. To “stitch” images together you could use one of several software packages available. Some let you adjust certain parameters, such as lens used or key points between frames.

64. Photographic Techniques - Perspective - Digital Camera And Photography Tutorials

http://www.dcviews.com/tutors/tt57811.htm
InitStyle('tutors',2);
Perspective
Perspective has a large influence on the way an image looks. It is dependent on picture angle and focal length used. Perspective changes the way an object looks in size and distance to the camera.
When using a wide-angle lens the background appears to be very far away. When moving the main subject closer to the camera it will look larger and more dominant in the frame relative to the background, which will remain the same distance away. This phenomenon can be used effectively to focus extra attention on the main subject, though when carried to an extreme this can give an unrealistic view of the scene. This opening up of perspective with wide-angles is called exaggerated perspective . A view appears much wider than our eyes would normally see it.
Telephotos show the opposite effect. Because of their much narrower angle of view, objects appear to be much closer together than in real life. They compress perspective since objects in foreground and background appear to be more similar in size. When looking down a street through a telephoto, it will be difficult to guess distances between objects as they all appear to be at the same relative distance to the camera. This can be used to create the illusion that a street or a scene is bustling with people, or that buildings are stacked on top of another.

How to Photograph Flowers (How to Photograph Series)
Heather Angel
Springtime offers a welcome change from harsh winter weather. While winter poses its own photographic challenges, spring entices the photographer by displaying an enormous variety of flowers, leaves and buds. Flowers draw photographers of every caliber like bees to its nectar. Heather Angel's "How to Photograph Flowers" outlines techniques to photograph flowers and how the techniques might be applied in the field to best utilize the photographic opportunities. One of the most important messages in this book is that visualization is very important to a successful photograph. It is only by learning about flowers that a photographer can successfully depict flowers and highlight their features. The photographer is also encouraged to visualize the effects of different kinds of lighting on floral images. Side-by-side comparisons of such lighting variations excite the photographer to continue this study in the field. In addition, this book discusses a choice of equipment appropriate for flower photography including lenses and film. The final chapter discusses how a photographer may profit from the floral images by selling it to magazines and stock agencies or lecturing about them.

- Kursusbeskrivelse Creative Photographic Techniques
Exciting photographs are the result of using the creative eye and following a spirit of conviction. But before you actually trip the camera shutter, a photograph is first taken within yourself. This occurs at the moment your internal perception aligns with a subject that captivates your attention. The camera only facilitates in recording a scene so that it can be reflected upon in the future.
True perception of a subject and the light surrounding it is proportional to the photographer's ability to sensitively view and relate to the subject. One must learn to look past the obvious in order to see the extraordinary. This workshop focuses on helping participants to unlock their perception, expand their horizons, and sense the light at hand.
Michael Long's approach to photography is that of an artist who has learned to paint with light. Using homemade filters and invented techniques during the time of shooting, he imbues a painterly look to his photographs. He shares these techniques and insights with workshop participants. Although a photographic print can be enhanced and manipulated in a darkroom or with a computer, a great photograph is made at the moment you take it. This workshop teaches you how to creatively capture a scene so that even a straight print made by your local one-hour lab can be a rewarding, finished product.
Målgruppe
This workshop is for amateur photographers who shoot with color negative film. A portfolio is not required for admission; however, a working knowledge of your camera in manual mode is essential.

This document answers many of the questions that I regularly get asked by clients concerning photography. The following highlights some of the equipment that I use on a regular basis:
Camera formats
View Camera; also known as large format
This is the architectural photographers basic tool. It provides an image size of 5x4inches or 6x9cm and offers an unparalleled opportunity to control the perspective of the image. The main use is to keep the film plane vertical in order to keep the verticals in a building from converging; whilst being able to include the full height of the elevation on the building. This enables an optically accurate representation of the subject. The term camera movements is often used to describe the view cameras ability to control an image perspective, focus, etc. The View camera is quite slow to work with and a single shot could take between 30minutes and 4hours; although this does depend on the subject. The average being about 1 hour per shot.
Medium Format 120
A larger (6x7cm) and better quality film size than 35mm; but without the ability to perform camera movements like the view camera. A very good tool for quality detail shots that would not need perspective control. Offers a generally faster working time than the view camera.
35mm Single-lens-reflex camera
A camera mainly used for back-up, reconnaissance and detail shots. Images can be captured fairly quickly even with a tripod; but the quality is only really good enough for an A4 page.

Photography
This page lists some of my photographic tips and tricks. In particular:
  • Avoiding dust spots on large-format film - I think I've figured out a pretty good technique for loading and using double-darks that makes dust spots a rarity. (Soon) My home-brew PVC development tanks for processing large format film. Very cheap, reasonably easy to use and seems to give pretty even development. (Soon) Building a properly ventilated darkroom in a way that lets you convert the room back to its former use in a weekend (in anticipation of 100 megapixel digital cameras...)
Avoiding dust spots on 4x5 film
Anyone who's done any amount of large format photography discovers that getting dust on the film while you're loading it into the film holders is one of the drawbacks of the format. Because the dust is there before the exposure it leaves clear spots on negative film which then print as black spots, which are difficult to correct on the print itself. I think I've developed a technique for keeping the dust at bay most of the time. This is what I do and it seems to work for me.
  • Get some ziplock bags that are just big enough to hold your film holders.

    Title: Photographic Techniques of Concern in Metric Bite Mark Analysis
    Keywords: bite marks, distortion, forensic science, metric, metric analysis, nonmetric, odontology, parallelism, photography, scale
    Abstract: In bite mark analysis concern is expressed for the need to improve the precision in photographic evidence collection procedures. The use of a rigid ruler (which meets federal specifications) for scale, proper camera positioning in relation to the scale, and a method to evaluate the distortion in a two-dimensional print that records a three-dimensional object is suggested. Disregarding these factors makes metric bite mark analysis inappropriate. *PDF not available Return to Main Page
