It is almost impossible for us to fully wean a baby because they see other babies getting fed and on occasion weaned birds will revert back to babies when they are sold and want to be fed. Hand Feeding will also help the baby bond to you. Use 1 LEVEL TABLESPOON of powdered formula (KAYTEE EXACT HAND FEEDING FORMULA), ADD 30ML WARM WATER. Mix throughly and allow 1 minute for FORMULA TO THICKEN. Formula should be the consistency of runny apple sauce. Draw the formula up into the syringe. Place syringe into large glass with water that is 108 degrees. When temperature in glass is down to 104 degrees, test formula on arm to make sure it is warm. Place the bird on a flat surface. Place your THUMB AND FOREFINGER ON THE UPPER BEAK AND BEGIN SQUIRTING FORMULA INTO MOUTH a little at a time. The bird should bob his head, CONTINUE TO FEED UNTIL BIRD REFUSES FURTHER FORMULA. Feed 2-3 times per day. CAUTION: Temperatures above 108 degrees can cause scalding of the crop. If using a microwave to heat formula, take extreme care and make sure there are no "Hot Spots" and stir frequently.

The answer to this question is a resounding "YOU BET!" Although considered by many to be the most beautiful of the parrots, Eclectus are not just pretty birds. Rivaling the African Grey and the Amazon in clarity of speech and scope of vocabulary, Eclectus not only repeat many words and phrases but also sing songs and talk to both their human and bird companions. Many Eclectus chicks learn their first word before they are weaned, especially if the hand-feeder repeats a word to them often. There is of course some controversy as to whether parrots actually understand language, but in my opinion, they definitely associate words with events and things. For example, my Eclectus gang often use the phrase "Wanna go out"? when they want to change locations. Most Eclectus owners have been fooled more than once by phantom doorbells, running water, and family members talking in absentia! As with all parrots the wolf whistle seems to come naturally to the Eclectus. Eclectus are relatively "new kids on the block" among talking parrots. I recently heard of a breeder who kept a few pairs of African Greys for the purpose of advertising, knowing that once the client came to see the Greys, but just happened to see the Eclectus, they would be hooked on the Eclectus. Some of the first-time viewer's questions are, "Are they REAL?" and "Do they talk?" Although it may sound too good to be true, these birds not only are strikingly beautiful but they definitely are very good talkers too. It's a WIN/WIN option for parrot lovers-except maybe for the man in England with the Vos male who sings The Yellow Submarine from beginning to end at least twelve times a day!

Although they may prefer a diet rich in seeds, they will eat berries, fruits, vegetables and some greens. In the wild, lovebirds of several species are known to raid ripening grain fields and the occasional cornfield. Today’s captive diet should consist of small seeds such as millet, safflower or sunflower seed, and a combination of a commercial pelleted diet, fresh fruits and vegetables, and green foods when they are accepted. When young are present in the nest box, large amounts of corn and greens may be consumed. Additionally, spray millet is favored when chicks are being fed and should be provided daily. It is important to provide an adequate amount of all kinds of foods during breeding times and when chicks are hatched. Lovebirds can be very temperamental and may destroy eggs or chicks if they cannot find enough food to keep them well fed.

To achieve the first short-term goal, I am constructing an ethogram using videotapes of African Grey Parrot behavior; the ethogram will allow me to judge the feasibility of its use for long-term study in three ways. First, I will identify the amount and types of behavioral data that were collected. Second, I will create definitions of and guidelines for assigning behavioral elements that will provide the ethogram's underlying structure. Third, when the underlying structure is complete, I will test the ethogram's utility and inter-observer reliability. Achieving the second short-term goal will require some understanding of the natural history of African Grey Parrots. Knowledge of daily activities (e.g., where and when the parrots forage for food) and possible effects of human presence on African Grey Parrot behavior are important for the design and implementation of conservation practices. Overheated non-stick cookware (like Teflon) makes a poisonous gas and can kill a bird quickly. Be extremely careful, or do not use it at all. Temperatures comfortable for you should be comfortable for healthy birds. Sudden changes in temperature can be harmful for sick birds. In winter with dry heat, increase the humidity with a humidifier. Household dangers include dogs, cats, toxic plants, ceiling fans, and young children. GENERAL CARE Amazon parrots and others that are from humid areas need frequent bathing, but bathing is good for all pet birds. Use only plain water for bathing; do not use additives because these may irritate the skin and feathers. Some birds prefer spray bottles, showering with their owners, a bowl of water, or rolling in wet greens. Some resist bathing and need a gradual introduction. Your bird may need periodic grooming, such as wing clips to keep it from flying. This protects birds from escaping or hurting themselves, or a mischievous one from doing much harm. You may need to trim the nails periodically to dull the ends, but beaks usually never need trimming. If beaks or nails constantly grow long this may indicate health problems.

Contact Me The environment your parrot lives in can often mean the difference between normal behaviors and behavioral problems, and even sometimes life and death! The habitat above, found at the Shyne Foundation , is ideal for parrots who must live in captivity. Cages Environment : The environment your bird lives in should be a few different things so that your parrot can live safely and happily. 1) It should be well-traveled and safe. An indoor aviary should be located in an area of the home where humans spend most of their time, like the living room, unless you have more than one bird and they are bonded.. A cage should not be kept in the kitchen, due to noxious fumes and other dangers. Any cages should be against a wall to give the feeling of security. Some birds need added security and prefer to be in a corner or to have their cage partially covered. Some birds enjoy being exposed to a window, others may find it distressing, especially if they are in view of any type of predator (like a hawk). 4) It should be quiet and dark for at least 10 hours at night. Parrots come from areas of the world located on or near the equator. They function best on 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. Lack of sleep contributes to many behavioral problems. If you cannot keep the bird's area quiet at night, you will need to purchase a smaller sleeping cage to be taken to a quiet room in the home for a proper night's sleep.

Your Honor, the Attorney General, On my question: "Why it happened?" - MikiSicky responded that I misunderstood his statement - "no unwanted guests can penetrate into my house". To Indeed, under the term "unwanted guests" he meant unwanted cats and dogs. My doubts about non-invited bad humans was winded out when he explained me that I should not worry about it because by a new government law - human to human is a true friend and as a 100% proof to this statement - he swore on my XP system manual. Only unwanted cats and dogs, from his words, can tremendously hurt my house. Even though I never heard about it, I agreed. How could I imagine that a guy who fraudulently was ordering sausages from my XP refrigerator when I was not at home - in reality, was a hacker's dog? MikiSicky calmed me down by the news that donkeys surely cannot penetrate into my house. Because by nature - a donkey is slightly different from me and, therefore, should not be as smart as dogs. Thus, it is 100% guaranteed that an XP door probably, for sure, will stop a donkey and promised me a new XP security upgrade against dogs.
