(AP) The uncertainity shows up in the quieter skies over some small airports and the calls to a Norman flight school from students canceling their enrollment. Small planes are flying again in Oklahoma, but general and private aviation may be staggering for some time from the Sept. 11 attacks on the nation. "It's because the whole American population is scared to death," said Brenda Keene, admissions director at Airman Flight School, where some classes have dwindled to half their size since the attacks. The Federal Aviation Administration has lifted restrictions that shut down flight schools and grounded small planes after the terrorist hijackings.

11. The Oklahoma Mesonet - General Overview
The oklahoma Climatological Survey (OCS) at OU receives the observations, verifies areacquired until they become available to customers, including schools.
http://okmesonet.ocs.ou.edu/overview/
Overview The Oklahoma Mesonet is a world-class network of environmental monitoring stations. The network was designed and implemented by scientists at the University of Oklahoma (OU) and at Oklahoma State University (OSU).
The Oklahoma Mesonet consists of over 110 automated stations covering Oklahoma. There is at least one Mesonet station in each of Oklahoma's 77 counties.
At each site, the environment is measured by a set of instruments located on or near a 10-meter-tall tower. The measurements are packaged into "observations" every 5 minutes, then the observations are transmitted to a central facility every 15 minutes, 24 hours per day year-round.
The Oklahoma Climatological Survey (OCS) at OU receives the observations, verifies the quality of the data and provides the data to Mesonet customers. It only takes 10 to 20 minutes from the time the measurements are acquired until they become available to customers, including schools.
Definition of "Mesonet" "Mesonet" is a combination of the words "mesoscale" and "network".
In meteorology, "mesoscale" refers to weather events that range in size from a few kilometers to a few hundred kilometers. Mesoscale events last from several minutes to several hours. Thunderstorms and squall lines are two examples of mesoscale events.

OSU Student-Athletes Continue Excellence in Community Service Student-athletes volunteer their time to Stillwater schools. Oct. 12, 1999 STILLWATER, Okla. — This year, Stillwater children will be learning from someone other than their teachers as OSU student-athletes assist elementary school teachers in their lessons. After volunteering over 1,300 hours to the community and state during the 1998-99 academic year, several athletes are planning to continue involvement this year, through Adopt-A-Player, a program in its second year. Adopt-A-Player was started at OSU during the 1998-99 academic year. The program was developed by the Oklahoma State University Athletic Department in conjunction with Stillwater schools. During its pilot year, the program involved 10 student-athletes and two Stillwater elementary schools. This year, however, the program includes all six of the elementary schools in Stillwater and more than 30 student-athletes. The program is designed to match individual student-athletes to individual classrooms. "Once an athlete is assigned to a classroom, they remain in that classroom and work with those students for the whole semester," said Jeff Martin, community outreach assistant for the OSU Athletics Department.
