Action taken for each meeting includes: EARLSBORO At their regular meeting July 12, Earlsboro's Board of Education voted to accept the resignations of several employees. The board accepted the resignation of Robin Rosser, who served as the high school principal's secretary; Larry Chesser, a maintenance worker; and Linda Chitsey, a secondary English teacher who transferred to Shawnee, said Superintendent Paul McGee. Also at the meeting, board members voted to accept the 1999-2000 student handbook, which is about the same as last year, the superintendent said. Members of the board also authorized McGee to bid on real estate property up to a certain amount per acre, he said. A lot of property on the southeast side of the school is for sale, McGee said, and in case of expansion, the property would be ideal.

Oklahoma! Uncrowned Queens and the Oklahoma Centennial Celebration for 2007 For the past two years, Drs. Bertram and Nevergold have been working to catapult the Uncrowned Queens Project into national status and to export this historical/cultural and heritage model to states throughout the country. A few weeks ago, they were notified that the Oklahoma Capitol Complex and Centennial Commemoration Commission had placed the Uncrowned Queens Project on the Master Plan. It is the only project of its kind on the Master Plan. This designation identifies the project as an official Oklahoma Centennial Commemoration project. The Commission reports that: “The project was selected because of the strong partnership with the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Urban League. Further, the project has a far reaching means of bringing recognition to African American women throughout Oklahoma who have contributed to their communities and to our state. We are pleased that the project will reach out to communities of all sizes and that it will create archives that will be invaluable to students, scholars and the public.” Further, the Commission writes: “This is a statewide centennial project that will utilize web-based technology to reach any community in the state and share a part of our unique history with anyone in the world.”
