The Cooperative Education Program (Co-op) at the Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology is a five-year program that combines classroom learning with paid, career-related work experience. Participating students alternate periods of on-campus study with roughly equal periods of worksite experience according to the established schedules. Students gain experience that will give them a competitive edge upon graduation while earning money and academic credit. At the co-op worksite, students find an employer who is ready to put them to work in degree-related assignments that are roughly equal to their skill level. Each time the students return to the worksite, they should encounter increased responsibility and more challenging assignments.
