Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said on Friday that federal agencies will take “specific protective measures” to comply with an elevated terrorist threat level. For the first time in nearly five months, Attorney General John Ashcroft Friday raised the threat level of possible terrorist attacks against the United States from “elevated” to “high” on the nation’s color-coded terrorism alert system . The Justice Department administers the system. “This decision for an increased threat condition designation is based on specific intelligence received and analyzed by the full intelligence community. This information has been corroborated by multiple intelligence sources,” Ashcroft said at a press conference with Ridge and FBI Director Robert Mueller. Though Ridge did not elaborate on what specific security measures federal agencies would take, the administration has outlined a general plan for agencies under the orange, or “high” level of the alert system. In such circumstances, agencies must coordinate “necessary security efforts” with state and local law enforcement agencies or appropriate armed forces organizations; take additional precautions at public events; prepare to execute emergency procedures, including moving to an alternate site or dispersing their employees; and restrict access to threatened facilities to essential personnel only.

In the face of waning morality and ethics in our society, private and public security are subject to increasing amounts of litigation and higher insurance costs, because they are seen as potentially lucrative lawsuit targets with deep pockets. Consequently, opportunistic lawyers and citizens who will eagerly exploit any given prospect if it should present itself closely scrutinize any action by public and private law enforcement. Sadly, these organizations that endeavor to help secure America's citizens and their belongings, are seen by many as just another means to meet their financial ends. GSC may very well be the answer to the budget verses cost dilemma, and without a doubt, it will satisfy the client's need for diverse experience and sound solutions in order to meet the client's organizational objectives. GSC's staff is comprised of some of the finest consultants available in the world today. Organized into mobile training teams, our personnel include former members of the U.S. Army's elite counter-terrorist unit: The Delta Force, Army Green Berets, Army Rangers, and various public Police Agencies. Our consulting staff has masters-level expertise in various disciplines and self-preservation arts, with experience in real-world tactical applications that are at the core of our know-how. GSC offers several programs to federal, state, and local law enforcement, protective and security agencies, including:

Government Improve Coordination Between Government Organizations Improved Government Intelligence via Integrated Access to Critical Content Improved Response for Law Enforcement Integration of video and audio recordings from disparate security firms or agencies can enable law enforcement to more readily track and locate fugitives, identify their patterns, and take preventative measures. By integrating digital content with legacy law enforcement systems, security systems, and secure networks, law enforcement can respond quickly and keep ahead of the criminal element. Agari provides government organizations with the ability to integrate all types of digital content. By connecting comprehensive digital content - documents, photographs, maps, audio recordings, videos, database records, and satellite images - government can provide key staff with a single point of access to multiple information repositories. This helps achieve greater operational efficiency, earlier identify trends, better respond to emergencies, and coordinate regulatory, law enforcement, or emergency information.

Combatting Cybercrime in New Zealand
There are actually a number of New Zealand government agencies that enforce the laws of our country on the Internet including the New Zealand Police, the Department of Internal Affairs - Censorship Compliance Unit, the Customs Service and the Commerce Commission. We will ultimately have contributions on NetSafe from all four of these government agencies. Now Superintendent Howard Broad of the Police, Steve O'Brien of Censorship Compliance and Mark Churches of the Commerce Commission are guest editors of pages about the work of their agencies. All three have been key supporters of the Internet Safety Group and we appreciate their participation here. E-mail NetSafe Print Combatting Cybercrime in New Zealand New Zealand Police ... NTI's Forensic and Security Suites
NTI specializes in computer forensics - that is all we do. We are the "heavy lifters" that help law enforcement agencies when they get in trouble and our consulting division provides electronic document discovery services to some of the largest civil litigation law firms in the world. NTI also develops specialized computer forensics tools to support the needs of our consulting and training divisions. Some of NTI's tools are so unique that they have been patented and many of our tools are sold to military agencies, intelligence agencies and Fortune 1000 corporations. We also provide some of our computer forensics software tools to law enforcement agencies free of charge to help stretch limited law enforcement budgets. NTI and its founders have made it a priority to support law enforcement agencies and U.S. military agencies since NTI was founded in 1996. Therefore, discounts are made available to these government agencies. Our software tools can be purchased separately or at a discount in various suites of software packages. Because computer forensics tools can be used to breach computer security, the sale of our tools is restricted to government agencies, Fortune 1000 corporations and large computer consulting firms.
