About programs Training. News Events Resources Contacts. ©2002 kansas family Partnership, Inc., all
    http://www.kansasfamily.com/pages/about.html
The Kansas Family Partnership (KFP) was created in October 1991 to assist Kansas parents in raising drug-free successful youth. The Kansas Family Initiative (as it was called until 1996) began as a collaborative effort on the part of representatives from the United School Administrators of Kansas, the Kansas State Board of Education, Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services/Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (now the Office of Prevention) and the Topeka Drug Awareness Coalition. This initiative involved over 60 public and private agencies, organizations and individuals. The focus during the early years was to involve families in the prevention of alcohol and other drug abuse. Strategies included mass media campaigns and capacity building of Kansans to deliver and receive research-based parent education programming. Goals GOAL I: A statewide network of parents, professionals and policy makers will be established in Kansas that will support the healthy development of Kansas families. GOAL II: Kansas families and communities will advocate for policies that will reduce problem behaviors in Kansas.
