Welcome to the Website of the Human Rights Unit,
The Office of The First Minister And Deputy First Minister.

The Human Rights Unit which is part of Community Relations, Human Rights and Victims Division of the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister was established primarily to:
  • help the Northern Ireland Departments and the public authorities for which they are responsible get ready for the full effect of the Human Rights Act: and also to
help promote a culture of rights and responsibilities within the Northern Ireland Civil Service and the wider public sector.
One of the ways we are seeking to do this is to provide an up-to-date information resource on the rights contained in the European Convention on Human Rights (and eventually in those other international instruments which the UK has signed) via this Website. We hope you find it useful.
Use the Contact Us button to let us know what you think: we are always looking for ways to further develop the site and are interested in receiving your comments.

Helpers of Gods Precious Infants "Let the little children come to me... The Kingdom of God belongs to such as these"
(Matt 19:14)
Helpers of Gods Precious Infants in Ireland Is part of a world wide movement aimed at bringing abortion to an end. Founded in 1990by Monsignor Reilly of New York, the movement engages in peaceful, prayerful witness outside abortuaries in the United States. Our Aim
  • To ask God's grace of conversion for those facilitating, referring for, or performing abortions
  • To pray for a change of heart of women seeking abortion
  • To beg God's mercy, healing and consolation for women who have had an abortion
'Rescue those unjustly sentenced to death. Don't stand back and let them die. Don't try to disclaim responsibility by saying you didn't know about it. For God, who knows all hearts knows yours, and He knows you knew. And He will reward everyone according to his deeds'
(Prov 4:11) Our Methods
  • We pursue our aims peacefully
  • By silent procession
  • By praying the rosary at designated places
  • By offering counsel and encouragement to expectant mothers
  • By offering support to woman who have had an abortion
  • By fasting
We do not engage in violence, loud protest or argument. It is not our way to condemn or judge. Our way is the way of Jesus Christ - gentle and merciful.

(INTERESTED IN FREE IRISH HERALDRY? OR FREE CELTIC CLIPART? LINK HERE TO A GREAT SITE!) In compiling these crosswords I have tried to give something of the flavour of Ireland, in its history, geography, literature, and everyday culture, in a slightly cryptic way. The level of difficulty is pitched somewhere between the trivial simplicity of "Simplex" and the obscurity of "Crosaire".
(Those of you who read the "Irish Times" will know what I mean.) :-)
A good map and/or a gazeteer of Ireland will be a great help to those unfortunate in not actually living here, in the finest country in the world! Enjoy this tour of Ireland in Crosswords;- if you have half as much fun in doing them as I did in compiling them, then my labour will have been worthwhile. **IF YOU WISH TO PUBLISH ANY OR ALL OF THESE CROSSWORDS

July 2003
Welcome to the Irish Experience, a summer travel program for North American high school students who want to experience Ireland by hiking its countryside, exploring its cities, and studying its rich history and celebrated literature while earning high school credits Over a four-week period the students will be based in the beautiful university town of Cork in the South of Ireland. They will attend classes on the picturesque campus of University College Cork, where they will study in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. A weekend will be spent in vibrant Dublin , one of the oldest capital cities in Europe with one of the youngest populations; almost 50% of the city's people are under 25 years old. Many historic figures and giants of the literary world have made Ireland their home and we will retrace their footsteps in our daily tours. Part of the program is spent in Galway City during the Galway International Arts Festival. With its colourful parade and exciting street theatre and music, Galway has been a favourite of students in the past. The students will experience a sense of Irish history and culture through guided tours to sites of historical, cultural, literary and aesthetic interest from street performers to Norman Castles, from prehistoric burial sites to Viking Adventures. Several evenings will be spent enjoying the music, dance and general '
