Backpacking Bicycling Boating Camping ... Vermont State Parks Bicycling: This is a great way to enjoy Vermont during the warmer months, but the visitor will find cycling here quite different from back home and should prepare ahead. Touring and Mountain Biking are the most popular forms of biking in Vermont, but are not for the faint-of-heart or the ill-equipped. There are also recreational paths and trails for those of us who prefer peddling along a shoreline or on flatter terrain. Our famed Green Mountain National Forest is a great place for Mountain Biking, and you can do so on any of the Forest Roads such as the 14 mile Forest Road #10 which runs between Danby and Landgrove. You can obtain a detailed map of these Forest Roads from the Green Mountain National Forest Ranger District Office covering the area of interest to you. The more experienced, well-equipped, and hearty may choose to cross the Green Mountains on one of the Gap Roads . Don't attempt this your first time out! Please note that under no circumstances are you permitted to bicycle on the hiking trails within the National Forest.

Recreational Activities - Hiking
"Two magnificent mountain ranges surrounded by a lei of white sand beaches" is the best description that we've ever heard of the island of O'ahu. This is a great place to go exploring and there are some magnificent hikes that will take you to some scenic overlooks, cascading waterfalls and secret glades. You won't find the real O'ahu sitting in your hotel room. If you want to get close to nature, here are some great hikes around the island. All of these hikes are really nature walks aimed at the family and the novice hiker. In most cases, you'll want to take along some water and make sure that you have plenty of sunscreen. Some noteworthy web sites for Oahu's hiking trails are Na Ala Hele (Trails to Go On, and Backyard Oahu , which offers comprehensive trail/access info, pictures, tips, geography, hike narratives, etc. for hiking and backpacking the Waianae and Koolau Mountains on Oahu, Hawaii.
