Using the Library
To find forestry-related books, articles, reports, or other kinds of information, the best place to begin searching is The Valley Library's Electronic Reference Center. If you are uncertain where or how to begin, just ask one of the librarian staff at the Reference Desk . In this Reference area you will also access the Library's online catalog (Oasis); online databases ("indexes and abstracts") below); and printed reference works (handbooks, encyclopedians, etc.). Much of the forestry material in the library is shelved in the "SD" call number area, but since forestry is multidisciplinary, you will find forestry material housed in other areas as well including, HD (economics), QH (biology), QK (botany), TS (forest products).
Indexes and Abstracts
These and other related databases are available online through the Library's Research Gateway on the WWW. Earlier years are available in print format. Check titles in OASIS for call numbers and location.

about the libraries: Departments Special Collections Collections Information Archives of the History of Science A primary collecting initiative of the Special Collections Department is the establishment of a history of science archive which documents the scientific research process in both educational and commercial settings through the acquisition of primary and secondary research materials for selected subdisciplines. These subdisciplines include the physical and life sciences, forestry, science education, agriculture and agribusiness, and scientific instruments, especially 19th and 20th century instrumentation. Archives and Manuscript collections place particular emphasis on chronicling the research process in the electronic age. Existing history of science collection strengths are in entomology, forestry and agriculture. The science collections include personal papers, correspondence, research files, departmental records, organizational records, photographs, and rare books. Resources at the NCSU Libraries

Introduction Research Management Human Resource Research Facilities ... Strategic Plan
Introduction
As part of Government’s efforts to improve the agricultural sector through well-targeted research, the National Agricultural Research Project (NARP) was initiated in 1991. It was designed to create an agricultural research system whose impact would be evident by helping to make agriculture more productive, alleviate hunger and poverty, generate employment, and improve the natural resource base of the country. It was also established to formulate a long term National Agricultural Strategic Plan (NARSP), support its implementation and ensure improvement in research management and research linkages and develop research skills of present and future scientists within the National Agricultural Research System (NARS). The NARP was implemented by the Agricultural Forestry and Fisheries Sector (AFFS). Research Management Development
This entails the development of processes and institutional arrangements to improve how research is conducted and managed in Ghana at the national, institute, and programme levels. It was also to ensure that research priorities are linked to the national development objectives and also to develop a National Agricultural Research Strategic Plan. Attainment of Objectives:
  • A structure, such as the National Agricultural Research Committee (NARC) was established as the apex body responsible for agricultural research policy. It has, however, been designated as the Agricultural Research Policy Co-ordinating Committee (ARPCC). The functions of ARPCC covers agricultural research policy formulation and setting broad macro priorities in the allocation of resources to agricultural research. It is now to be replaced by a similar body with members of the "Council" of CSIR. The Committee is to be chaired by the MOFA representative on the Council.
