But these terms are not inventions of dentistry and the use of fluorides originally was in no way related to that profession. Early European Fluoride Research In the 19th century, research on fluoride and its occurrence in teeth and bones was carried out by physicians and chemists in Europe while the dental profession was still not organized as we know it today. This is in contradiction to claims that dental research was neglected as long as it was still in the hands of physicians ... [

Some people think in words. Others think in pictures. Dr. Peter Antich thinks in 3-D.
Because bones grow and break in three dimensions, Dr. Charles Y.C. Pak, director of the Robert T. Hayes Center for Mineral Metabolism Research, and his research team turned to Antich when they needed new and better ways to measure the effects of their slow-release fluoride treatment on the bones of osteoporosis study patients.
Antich, chairman of radiological sciences at the University of Texas Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, has a designing mind, a mind that invented reflection ultrasound a unique way of measuring both density and strength of bone without so much as a pinprick to cause the patient distress.
"In treating osteoporosis, it is important to provide sufficient bone strength, not merely to increase mineral density," Antich explained. "We knew that fluoride helps make more bone. What we needed to know was how resilient or elastic the new bone is. We wanted to know whether the new bone being formed is just more weak bone or if it is strong, good bone."
So he designed and built a device based on ultrasound extremely high-frequency sound waves that move harmlessly through some tissues and bounce off others. Measuring the speed at which these sound waves travel and the angle at which they reflect reveals vital information about the size, shape and internal structure of many hidden parts of the body.

Fluoride and the Phosphate Connection
by George C. Glasser Cities all over the US purchase hundreds of thousands of gallons of fresh pollution concentrate from Florida - fluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) - to fluoridate water. Fluorosilicic acid is composed of tetrafluorosiliciate gas and other species of fluorine gases captured in pollution scrubbers and concentrated into a 23% solution during wet process phosphate fertilizer manufacture. Generally, the acid is stored in outdoor cooling ponds before being shipped to US cities to artificially fluoridate drinking water. Fluoridating drinking water with recovered pollution is a cost-effective means of disposing of toxic waste. The fluorosilicic acid would otherwise be classified as a hazardous toxic waste on the Superfund Priorities List of toxic substances that pose the most significant risk to human health and the greatest potential liability for manufacturers. Phosphate fertilizer suppliers have more than $10 billion invested in production and mining facilities in Florida. Phosphate fertilizer production accounts for $800 million in wages per year. Florida's mines produce 30% of the world supply and 75% of the US supply of phosphate fertilizers. Much of the country's supply of fluoro-silicic acid for water fluoridation is also produced in Florida. Phosphate fertilizer manufacturing and mining are not environment friendly operations. Fluorides and radionuclides are the primary toxic pollutants from the manufacture of phosphate fertilizer in Central Florida. People living near the fertilizer plants and mines, experience lung cancer and leukemia rates that are double the state average. Much of West Central Florida has become a toxic waste dump for phosphate fertilizer manufacturers. Federal and state pollution regulations have been modified to accommodate phosphate fertilizer production and use: These regulations have included using recovered pollution for water fluoridation.

Water is more than a thirst quencher. It is a vehicle for carrying nutrients to your cells. Water also acts as a natural lubricant to limbs and joints.
Water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in achieving or maintaining desired weight.
Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
Most people drink less water than their bodies require. The most common mild dehydration symptoms are:

What is fluoride?
Fluoride acids are among the most corrosive chemicals known. Fluoride in water system helps leach lead out of pipes. The fluoridation chemicals used in public water supplies are waste products of the aluminum and the phosphate fertilizer industries. If the industries weren't permitted to dump this waste product into our drinking water, they'd have to dispose of it as hazardous waste. In some places (like Philadelphia), Zinc Orthophosphate (which is "slightly toxic" if ingested) is added to the water to counteract the corrosive effects of the fluoride. Fluorides are considered poisons in Pennsylvania law. Fluoride exposure has been linked to hip fractures, ADD, diminished IQ, Alzheimer's Disease, birth defects, skeletal fluorosis, dental fluorosis, early onset of puberty, bone cancer and other rare forms of cancer. There have been several attempts in recent years to fluoridate specific communities in Pennsylvania (where 54% of the public is already mass medicated with fluoridated drinking water). After 40 years of local opposition

The Fluoride Connection
Fluoride and the Placental Barrier
by Richard G. Foulkes, MD Kaj Roholm, in his study of fluoride intoxication in Danish Cryolite workers published in 1937 stated that he did not think that fluoride crossed the placental barrier. This opinion was based, primarily, on his failure to see fluorosis in the deciduous teeth of offspring. However, he was convinced that sufficient fluoride was passed through the milk of contaminated female workers to cause fluorosis in their children. W.R. Cox, in 1953, published his personal account of multiple problems in Chinchillas that were attributed to high fluoride content of commercial animal feed. In 1951, when the probable cause was first identified, the MD and the chemist involved from the University of Oregon Medical School did not hesitate to state that fluoride penetrated the placental barrier in animals. Fluoride and Fertility One of the major problems encountered in these valuable commercial animals concerned fertility. After changing to a diet low in fluoride there were increases in the number of offspring born; the number of litters; and, the numbers born alive. The adult mortality rate decreased from 14.6% in 1951 to 3.3% in 1952. A number of abnormalities associated with the fluoride -contaminated feed were passed on through multiple generations.

Pediatricks™ Fluoride Supplements
by Carol S. Kopf, BS, MA “Ten year old, Gradon got some nasty news from his dentist and it wasn’t a cavity,” reports CBC-TV. “I saw this yellow stuff and thought it was my toothpaste and kept trying to wash it off; but it wouldn’t come off,” says Gradon. Those patches are fluorosis, a condition that shocks many parents because of the cause too much fluoride. “It was even a bigger surprise to his pediatric dentist he’s Gradon’s father,” said the Canadian broadcaster. (1) “We don’t really know how much fluoride it takes to cause fluorosis; and it’s not something we really knew much about ten years ago,” said the Canadian dentist in 1998. Dental fluorosis is growing in prevalence and severity in American children (2) and can range from mild, white spotted teeth to moderate and severe fluorosis yellow, brown or black and sometimes pitted and crumbling teeth. American children are over-fluoridated. It’s hard to believe that dentists themselves are undereducated about fluoride and its adverse effects, but they are.
