Cosby admits 'rendezvous'; denies fathering alleged extortionist
January 27, 1997
Web posted at: 9:30 p.m. EST In this story: NEW YORK (CNN) Actor Bill Cosby admitted during a national television interview Monday that he had a "rendezvous" with the mother of the woman who was arrested for trying to extort money from him, but denied that he is her father. In an interview with Dan Rather of CBS, Cosby admitted that he had had an affair with the woman's mother, and that the mother told him, "I am the father." But, he added, "on the birth certificate, it's not my name." Cosby said during the interview that after seeing the woman the first time, it was 14 months before they met again. "I had not spoken to the mother during her pregnancy, nor her delivery, nor some 14 months until we finally spoke," he said. "Never she never called me. And then one day when I called her for a second rendezvous, she came and she made the announcement." At the end of that portion of the interview, Rather said, "Once again, Bill Cosby emphatically denies that he is the father of Autumn Jackson."

"It is important that I offer my sincerest gratitude to those who visited this page while I temporarily took it offline to present a petition calling for a public hearing before the National Transportation Safety Board in Washington, D.C.. Hundreds came forward in support of finding out the truths surrounding the death of my Mother, Stella Riehl, March 17, 2001, aboard the Amtrak California Zephyr as it derailed near Nodaway, Iowa. My heart will forever remain saddened but with the support shown, I have gained courage and energy to remain strong."

    24. Welcome To The Center On Fathering
Welcome to the Center On fathering. Our Mission Mission. There parent.THE CENTER ON fathering. 325 N. El Paso Street Colorado Springs, CO.
    http://www.pcisys.net/~dad/cof.htm
Welcome to the Center On Fathering
Our Mission There has been an extreme lack of resources, support, and educational opportunities directed toward "fathering" in our community, as well as the country as a whole. We must consider that half of the children born in 1995 will spend part of their childhood without their fathers, and 38% will live totally without a father in the home. Although research into divorce and fatherhood is now flourishing, divorced fathers remain a largely neglected population. More than 90% of divorced fathers become non custodial parents and greater than 50% of these men become disengaged fathers, despite the existence of mediation services and joint custody provisions by the courts. It is also disturbing that El Paso County has the highest divorce rate (72%) in the state of Colorado (as of 1994 Department of Health statistics). Father to Father Services The Center on Fathering, which opened in June of 1995 as a project of El Paso County Human Services, offers four service components designed to meet the needs of fathers in our community: Education and Training; Support Groups; Outreach; and a Resource Center/information Clearinghouse. Women Included Why a Center on Fathering? U.S. Census figures show that 38% of our nation's children live without their fathers, and at least half of today's children will spend part of their childhood without a father. The Center on Fathering is focused on providing timely and competent service to fathers and fathers-to-be, to supply them with the personal and social skills necessary to help them fulfill their responsibilities as a parent.

    Fathering XML
Jon Bosak chats about his hopes and concerns as XML grows up
    Summary
Jon Bosak, considered by many to be "the father of XML," remains one of XML's guiding lights. In this interview with JavaOne Today reporter and JavaWorld XML columnist Mark Johnson, Bosak expresses his hopes and concerns about the future of XML, discusses his views on the creation of a semantic network, and explains why he believes that the most important benefits of XML are social not technical. (3,000 words) By Mark Johnson
    Printer-friendly version
Mail this to a friend Advertisement "The father of XML" is the usual title given by the press to Jon Bosak, whose official title is distinguished engineer at Sun Microsystems's XML Technology Center. When asked about this, Bosak will typically cite the contributions of other people in the XML community, particularly those of Yuri Rubinski, late president and co-founder of SoftQuad, who began the first initiatives for "SGML on the Web." Following Rubinski's sudden passing in 1996, Bosak picked up the torch and began to create the community of experts that created XML. Today, two years after the completion of the XML 1.0 standard, Bosak's vision of XML as an open information representation standard guides his current efforts in keeping XML open "to all interested parties."

    We’re men...
we like to build things and blow things up.
Your kids just love to do either with you. Building together builds togetherness. When you are through with a building project, you can see what you have accomplished. When you involve your kids in that project what you don’t see is the invisible...the lessons poured into the life of a child. The first lesson taught through working together is "my dad loves me enough to spend time with me." DTFS Mission Statement:
Dad the Family Shepherd seeks to support the local church by motivating and equipping men to live the Biblical values of fathering.

Do you have any tips on how to be a great father?
    Atherton, California
In any bookstore one can find several good resources for fathers, but the most important resource of all is one that is very difficult to obtain. That resource is locked up inside you. By spending some time alone, pen in hand, exploring what it means to be a great father to your children, you can unearth a gold mine. I would begin by recalling your own father when you were a child, picturing him, and making a list of all the things you most loved about your dad. Remember what you respected and what you enjoyed. Conjure up times that you miss. Make a list of some of the best memories you had together. Take time to treasure moments that touch you deeply when you think of him.

"The most important...work you and I will ever do will be within the walls of our own homes." Harold B. Lee
After reading stories and ideas in this section, please take about one minute and give us your evaluation on five feedback questions at the bottom of the page When fathers learn that their child will have lifelong special needs or that they have a dangerous illness, their reactions can range from shock, to acceptance, to greater love. Fathers often try and meet these challenges with courage and ingenuity. Many fathers are highly commited to their special needs children and devote long hours to the physical and emotional care of their children . While there is relatively little research on fathers with special needs children, in most cases, whatever the nature of the child's handicap, there is a much greater likelihood that the children with attentive, encouraging fathers will eventually make successful adjustments, cope constructively, and develop healthy self-esteem than children who suffer from lack of paternal support (Biller, 1993, p. 216)

Mick Jagger's supermodel wife, Jerry Hall, filed for divorce last week, accusing the ageless rocker of fathering a child by a 29year-old Brazilian model. She's asking for a settlement of around US$50 million, which apparently got Mick's attention. Now Jagger, 55, says that his 9-year marriage to Hall was never valid in the first place because the proper papers were not filed following their wedding in Bali. If the court sides with Jagger, he'll probably save a bundle, although legal experts say he runs the risk of having his visitation rights severely limited. Did we mention they have four kids? That makes it a lot easier for people to respond to you. It's hard to follow a conversation when everybody is named "anon" on every message. Remember that everything you say here is public, and unlike chat, it is persistent. That is, the message doesn't go away when you do. So don't put anything here that you don't want others to see. Technical stuff: You only have to post your message once.

The emu represents how food was shared amongst the community and how each part of the emu was used. The old people were given soft parts such as the kidney and liver, young people were given fleshy parts, the tail fat was used as medicine, the leg bones for spear heads and other tools and the feathers were used for ceremony decoration. The adults shared what was left. In some cases there would not be enough food for the person who hunted and killed the emu. That person selflessly contributed what he could to the community, only taking a share if there was enough.
The leaves represent the food, medicines and tools which the boys were taught to gather and make. He was taught which trees could be used to make ropes and fishing nets, which bark was used for painting and making bark canoes and which trees the didgereedoo came from. The didgereedoo represents the ceremonies that boys would participate in during their initiation and the teachings they would receive about their role in those ceremonies.
The bowerbird and its bower represent the teachings about patience and that everything has an order. Boys would be taken to a bower and told to move a few pieces of the decoration. They would wait very quietly for the bowerbird to return and watch as he hopped around looking for what had been moved. They would see him eventually find the moved pieces and return then to their original position. It taught the boys that everything and everyone had a place in the community and to see that every animal and its behaviour had a message for them about their life.
