by Liz Knight No matter how gently-born your offspring, no matter how sheltered their upbringing or how carefully they are educated, there will still come the day when they turn around and shake you to your roots. It may be when they stop dead outside your local branch of Dollywood and demand the rhinestone-encrusted powder-blue crop top in the window—doubly worrying if you are the parent of a boy! It may be a point blank refusal when asked to do something entirely reasonable. Either way, your reaction will almost certainly be "But they're too young to start this—they're not even a teenager yet". Sadly it means that as a busy parent you took your eye off the ball a fraction too long and the goal posts moved. You missed the arrival of your tweeny. DELTA CHELSEA OFFERS CHILDREN A FUN-FILLED CREATIVE EXPERIENCE IN TORONTO The Delta Chelsea in Toronto offers a mirade of fun and creative activities for children as well as a host of services to see to all their needs. During summer months and holiday periods kids can climb the stairs with the painted rails at the front desk to "Check In". These special guests will receive a goodie bag and can fill in their own registration card. Activities abound for all ages on the second floor of the Hotel year round. The Children's Creative Centre operates daily between 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and opens again at 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm with extended hours on Friday and Saturday to 10:00 pm and to 6:00 pm on Sundays for children ages 3 (toilet trained) to 12. Children can enjoy the facilities up to 2 1/2 hours per day, twice daily. A minimal fee of $5.00 per child is charged. Extended hours are offered during special periods and theatre babysitting. Children can also enjoy the Children's Creative Centre with their parents. After completing the centre registration and release, parents can rest assured that their children will be well cared for by experienced staff. Parents will be given a numbered tab that matches the wristband on their child which must be presented when children are picked up. For added comfort parents can use the pagers available so they can be reached at all times.

11:00 am Childcare: Infants - 2 Years Old 3-5 Year Old (for Children who previously attended Sunday School that day) Sunday School Class: 3-5 Years Old Curriculum The 2 Year Old through 4 - 5 Year Old classes use “Bible Quest,” an ecumenical curriculum designed to introduce children to basic faith concepts. The Kindergarten Class uses “Godly Play,” which teaches children the Bible stories in a worship context. It also invites each child to express something in the story through an art response of their own design, i.e. clay, paints, collage, etc. The First Grade Classes spend the fall season studying curriculum designed to prepare them to participate in worship; Touch the Water, Taste the Bread and Worship Readiness. First Church offers an experiential approach to Sunday School for children in Grades 2 through 6. It is a rotational creative workshop model in which children work with and explore one Bible story throughout a five or six week period, using a variety of methods and targeting specific learning styles. The variety of workshops included at various times throughout the year are Stage Door (Video Production or Creative Drama), Daily Bread Cafe (Food), The Cinema (Video or Movie clips), Computer Lab, Art Studio, The Arcade (Games), Science Lab, and Biblelands Museum.
