CEE's residential initiatives address energy-saving opportunities for appliances, lighting, HVAC systems and gas heating. These products and equipment account for a sizeable portion of a typical household's energy bill. CEE utility members develop energy-efficiency programs, using the residential initiatives as templates, and pass the savings on to their customers. CEE also works closely with manufacturers to encourage greater availability of high-efficiency products. For detailed information about the programs described below, click on the appropriate links. Residential Clothes Washer Initiative By promoting washers that meet CEE's high-efficiency specifications, this initiative has contributed to a marked increase in both product availability and consumer acceptance. More than 240 utilities and energy organizations currently run programs for high-efficiency residential washers. Super-Efficient Home Appliance Initiative (SEHA) SEHA establishes "super-efficient" efficiency levels for refrigerators, room air-conditioners, clothes washers and dishwashers. By promoting products that meet these specifications, SEHA complements the E

Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Inc. (NEEP) is a nonprofit regional organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to steadily increase energy efficiency in homes, buildings and industry throughout the Northeast region of the United States. Our general method is to recognize and engage all concerned and capable organizations in cost-effective regional initiatives that promise greater results than an assortment of sub-regional (state or service territory) efforts could produce. The initiatives promote selected products and practices to address energy end-use in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
Organizations that accept NEEP invitations to participate form the various energy efficiency partnerships that are mentioned in our name. Each energy efficiency partnership crafts, implements and fine-tunes programs and/or campaigns to realize the promise of the initiative which is its focus. If your organization is not involved, but you believe it could contribute, let's get acquainted soon.

RELEASE DATE: December 17, 2002 Print Friendly Version
Release of North American Energy Efficiency Report
WASHINGTON, DC U.S. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham, Canadian Natural Resources Minister Herb Dhaliwal and Mexican Energy Secretary Ernesto Martens today released the report North American Energy Efficiency Standards And Labeling. This is the second report of the North American Energy Working Group (NAEWG), a group of senior energy officials from Canada, the United States and Mexico. "We are extremely pleased to release this report on the heels of the 10 year commemoration of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Energy efficiency standards, test procedures and appliance labeling are key elements in support of our three countries' goals of energy security, environmental protection and economic growth," Secretary Abraham said. "This work between the United States, Canada and Mexico will bring the growing market for energy-efficient goods and services to North America's door." The report issued today, North American Energy Efficiency Standards And Labeling, highlights that as a result of Mexico's recent adoption of new standards for energy efficiency, the three countries will have harmonized minimum efficiency requirements and test procedures for refrigerators, freezers, electric motors and window air-conditioners before the end of the first quarter of 2003, strengthening the market for high-efficiency products in North America.
