7C Electro Chemistry Beamline
This bending magnet beamline is primary requested for an appropriate SR(synchrotron radiation) facility to conduct electrochemistry experiments using EXAFS (Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure) technique. Also, the higher energy requirement for EXAFS users is merged to determine the beamline specification, typically 7-30 keV in Si(311) mode. EXAFS is an essential tool of chemical-sensitive measurements, effectively investigating the local atomic structure and the electronic structure for variety of chemical elements and species involved with chemical reactions at certain conditions. This beamline comes into use for studies of catalysts and surfaces in recent chemistry and materials sciences. Focused research subjects are fuel cells, batteries, semiconductor/liquid junction solar cells, and double layer super capacitors. Specification Contact Information Light Source

Electro chemistry
The wide range of electrochemical methods is partially represented in our group by some of them. Besides universal instruments, some highly specialized are available.
Universal Devices
  • Universal Calibrator (Reference Voltages) Burster 4421 Keithley Multi meter 193A/E Keithley Source measure Unit 236 Keithley Programmable Electro meter 617 Keithley System Digital multi meter 2002
Special Devices
  • AMEL Galvanostat model ... Hewlett-Packard Impedance Analyzer HP 4192 A

Impedance Spectroscopy
Non electronic conductivity obeys time laws and which can be analyzed using different frequencies when measuring the resistivity. We use a HP 4192 A Impedance Analyzer for frequencies ranging from 5 Hz - 13 MHz. Temperature dependent measurements lead to diffusion coefficients of ions.

Electron Conductivity
Self designed devices combined with universal instruments and control programs (VIEWDAC of Keithley) allows the individual setup for the experiments. We can measure inside a drybox the temperature dependence of the resistivity of pellets or in some cases even of single crystals from room temperature down to 11 K using a
  • Closed Cycle He-cryostat Leybold RDK 10-320 / RW2

A heating bank allows measurements above room temperature allowing the determination of band gap s but the risk of oxygen gathering increases since the samples are not capsuled during the heating. A separate external evacuable device permits a rising up to 600
