    Italian Pasta Sauce

The two basic types of pasta sauce are made with or without meat. Sauces without meat, known as Marinara sauce, is said to have originated centuries ago by sea mariners who ate pasta regularly because it could be stored for long periods of time without spoiling if it was free of meat which tends to spoil quickly. The pawpaw is the largest edible fruit that is native to the United States. Pawpaws are indigenous to 26 states in the U.S., in a range extending from northern Florida to southern Ontario and as far west as eastern Nebraska. They have provided delicious and nutritious food for Native Americans, European explorers and settlers, and wild animals. They are still being enjoyed in modern America, chiefly in rural areas. There are 27 varieties ( Table 1 ) currently available from more than 50 commercial nurseries in the U.S. Most enthusiasts agree that the best way to enjoy pawpaws is to eat them raw, outdoors, picked from the tree when they are perfectly ripe. But there are also numerous ways to use them in the kitchen and extend the enjoyment of their tropical flavor beyond the end of the harvest season. The unique flavor of the fruit resembles a blend of various tropical flavors, including banana, pineapple, and mango. The flavor and custard-like texture make pawpaws a good substitute for bananas in almost any recipe. The common names, 'poor man's banana,' 'American custard apple,' and 'Kentucky banana' reflect these qualities.

Introduction to Nepali cuisine and large number of recipes from starters to desserts.
    http://www.members.tripod.com/regmit/Overview.html
Creative Nepali Cooking with Tulsi Regmi Overview of Nepali Cuisine The Nepali cuisine, also known as the cuisine of the Himalayas bears uniqueness in that it merges two great culinary traditions of the region, namely Indian and Tibetan, into a mainstream culinary culture of its own, reflecting the geographic as well as demographic diversity prevailing in the Himalayas. Nepal, a tiny country by any geographic measurements, stretches from the lowlands of the sub-tropical terai plains in the South to the highlands of the Himalayas, as dominated by the majestic reign of Mt. Everest, in the North. Hence, Nepal has resurrected its own unique cultural identity into a hormoneous and monolithic culture, combining different traditions of different indigenous cultures rooting on all corners of the country. The Nepali staple consists primarily of rice, wheat, corn, lentils coupled with fresh vegetables and meats. A typical Nepali meal can be characterized by Dal (lintels soup), Bhat (steamed rice) and Tarkari (vegetable preparation), also known as "The Trinity", supplemented by some meat preparations. Typical Himalayan dishes include

Banana Bread: For a moister and tastier banana nut bread, pour half of the batter in the baking pan, spread 1/8" - 1/4" of pineapple tidbits (drained) over the batter, then cover with remaining batter. This is especially effective for those of us who buy the boxed mix. The addition of the pineapples should only vary baking time by a few minutes, if at all. (Submitted By: Mike King) Breads: To cool a loaf of yeast bread, remove loaves from pans immediately and place on wire racks. To have a softer crust, brush the loaf with shortening and cover with a towel for a few minutes. For quick biscuits to round out a meal, use a drop biscuit recipe and they are done in a flash. Also try slicing leftover rolls and breads, spread softened butter and then freeze them wrapped in foil. Pull them out and reheat them easily in the foil wrapping. Cakes: When using a glass baking dish for cakes, lower oven temperature by 25 degrees. To keep a cake longer, place half an apple in the cake container when storing. To cut a cake without messing up the decorative icing, cut it with dental floss. When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead, and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake. Don't have a cake or tart cover? Try inverting the bottom of a salad spinner or springform pan. To dress up cakes and pies, place a doily on top, then sprinkle powdered sugar and remove. Quick and impressive!
