Teddy's Daily Snow and Weather Report: As of April 5th and 6th, recent temperatures have been from 20 to 35 degrees F and the snow has come back big-time, but is once more melting very slowly. April, with it's rapidly lengthening daylight, is a great time of year to hide away from it all in a cozy, warm log cabin and watch the border country in early spring - alone, with your dog, or with your dog and another friend or two. Ron says cabins are available this week, next weekend, and beyond. (For information about Ron's monthly log building courses, go to http://www.schooloflogbuilding.com Bird action on the feeders and in the yard around Ron's cabin is mostly confined to black-capped chickadees, pine and evening grosbeaks, and lots of bluejays, along with a few of their much quieter cousins - the Canada jays (whiskeyjacks). Pine siskins, goldfinches, and red-breasted nuthatches, though less than usual, are also in evidence...some days. Most of the pine grosbeaks seem to be on the highway surface. In one of the main indications of spring on Sand Lake, a very noisy gang of crows arrived on the 16th. Ravens, of course, are here year-around, and are a good deal quieter.
