6. The Chinese Government--Staunch Champion For The One- China Principle
III. The chinese governmentStaunch Champion for the OneChina Principle. Thechinese government firmly defends the One-China Principle.
http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/features/taiwanpaper/taiwand.html
Foreword I II III IV V Conclusion III. The Chinese GovernmentStaunch Champion for the One-China Principle Separatist forces in Taiwan are bent on violating the One-China Principle. In 1988, after Lee Teng-hui became the leader of the Taiwan authorities, he publicly stated time and again that the basic policy of the Taiwan authorities was that "there is only one China, not two," and "we have always maintained that China should be reunited, and we adhere to the principle of 'one China.'" In ideology and culture, the Taiwan authorities have endeavored to obliterate the Chinese awareness of Taiwan compatriots, especially young people, and their identification with the motherland, in order to create misunderstanding of the motherland among Taiwan compatriots and estrange them from her, thus cutting off the ideological and cultural ties between the compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Since 1999, Lee Teng-hui has stepped up his separatist activities. In May, he published the book The Road to Democracy, which advocates the division of China into seven regions, each enjoying "full autonomy." On July 9, he went so far as to publicly distort the inter-Straits relations as "state to state relations, or at least special state to state relations," in an attempt to fundamentally change the status of Taiwan as a part of China, sabotage the relations between both sides of the Taiwan Straits, especially the basis for cross-Straits political dialogues and negotiations, and wreck the foundation for peaceful reunification. Lee Teng-hui has become the general representative of Taiwan's separatist forces, a saboteur of the stability of the Taiwan Straits, a stumbling-block preventing the development of relations between China and the United States, and a troublemaker for the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region.

(1583-1610 CE) from The Diary of Matthew Ricci , in Matthew Ricci, China in the Sixteenth Century , trans Louis Gallagher, (New York: Random House, 1942, 1970), as excerpted in Mark A. Kishlansky, Sources of World History , Vol. 1 (New York: HarperCollins, 1995), p. 269-273 Ricci's most important published work was his History of the Introduction of Christianity into Chin a. But the journals that he kept and edited for publication allow one of the few glimpses of an outsider's view of Chinese society and government during a period when China was closed to foreign visitors. In this selection Ricci describes Chinese government. There are no ancient laws in China under which the republic is governed in perpetuum, such as our laws of the twelve tables and the Code of Caesar. Whoever succeeds in getting possession of the throne, regardless of his ancestry, makes new laws according to his own way of thinking. His successors on the throne are obliged to enforce the laws which he promulgated as founder of the dynasty, and these laws cannot be changed without good reason.... The extent of their kingdom is so vast. its borders so distant, and their utter lack of knowledge of a transmaritime world is so complete that the Chinese imagine the whole world as included in their kingdom. Even now, as from time beyond recording, they call their Emperor, Thiencu, the Son of Heaven, and because they worship Heaven as the Supreme Being, the Son of Heaven and the Son of God are one and the same. In ordinary speech, he is referred to as Hoamsi, meaning supreme ruler or monarch, while other and subordinate rulers are called by the much inferior title of Guam.

Strong Protest by the Chinese Government Against The Bombing by the US-led NATO of the Chinese Embassy in the Federal Yugoslavia
At 11:45, 7 May 1999 local time (or 5:45 early morning of May 8, Beijing time), the US-led NATO fired five bombs at the Chinese Embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from different directions (four of them exploded right away). Three Chinese journalists posted in Yugoslavia (Shao Yunhuan, a lady journalist from Xinhua News Agency, Xu Xinghu of Guangming Daily and his wife Zhu Ying) were hit and died heroically, 21 diplomatic personnel in the Embassy were wounded, and the Embassy properties were seriously damaged.
President Clinton of the United States and other leaders of the US Government made statements on this on many occasions, expressing their apology to China on this bombing incident. On 14 May, President Clinton telephoned President Jiang, apologizing again for the bombing and telling Jiang that the US would conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident and report the findings to the Chinese side.
After the bombing, heads of state or government and friendly personages of some countries sent messages to the Chinese leaders to express their condolence to the victims, condemnation against the NATO atrocities the and support to the Chinese Government. People in and outside China voiced their protests and condemnations against the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in various ways.

Hegemonism Remains Main Source of Threats to World Peace BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) Hegemonism and power politics remains the main source of threats to world peace and stability, China says today in a white paper on its national defense. The white paper, entitled "China's National Defense," was issued today by the Information Office of the State Council, the country's highest governing body. The white paper points out that there still exist some factors of instability both globally and regionally. Hegemonism and power politics remain the main source of threats to world peace and stability. It says that the cold war mentality and its influence still have a certain currency, and the enlargement of military blocs and the strengthening of military alliances have added factors of instability to international security. The white paper says some countries, by relying on their military advantages, pose military threats to other countries, even resorting to armed intervention. The old unfair and irrational international economic order still damages the interests of developing countries. It says, history has proved that the concepts and systems of security with military alliances as the basis and increasing military might as the means could not be conducive to peace during the cold war.

Chinese government backs down on Google
Jason Deans
Friday September 13, 2002

The Beijing government has suddenly ended its two-week block on Chinese subjects using US internet search engine Google. Users in Shanghai and Beijing reported yesterday that they could once again view Google, which until the ban was widely used by China's 30 million-plus web surfers because it has a powerful feature for finding Chinese language material online. However, another US search engine, AltaVista, remained blocked yesterday although users were no longer being rerouted to other Chinese government-approved search engines.

Zhongnanhai, Beijing - Headquarters of CPC and Chinese Government
Wall Banner on the left-hand side: "Long Live the Great Chinese Communist Party!"
Wall Banner on the right-hand side: "Long Live the Invincible Mao Zedong Thought!" The Communist Party of China (CPC) was founded on July 1, 1921 in Shanghai, China. After 28 years of struggle, the CPC finally won victory of "new-democratic revolution" and founded the People's Republic of China in 1949. The CPC is the ruling party of mainland China (P.R. China). The Communist Party of China is founded mainly on ideology and politics. The CPC derives its ideas and policies from the people's concentrated will and then turns that will into State laws and decisions which are passed by the National People's Congress of China through the State's legal procedures. Theoretically, CPC does not take the place of the government in the State's leadership system. The Party conducts its activities within the framework of the Constitution of the People's Republic of China and the law and has no right to transcend the Constitution and the law. All Party members, like all citizens in the country, are equal before the law.
