the Performing Arts
There are a large number of opportunities in all aspects of performing arts both in and out of the public eye. The following links will lead you to job postings in the industry, sample resumes of performers, and general information on how to become an actor, dancer, or concert musician. There are also some resources on such careers behind the scenes as costume design, technical support and theater management among many others. Alumni Profiles Links to Current News and Events Theatrical Resumes
Theatrical resumes are different from "traditional" resumes. They include information that is strict unacceptable on "traditional" resumes (ie: height, weight, etc.) and they should always be distributed attached to (or printed onto) the back of the actor's head shot - 8" 10" black and white glossy, so the casting director can keep them together. Other than the phone or service number and e-mail address (and URL, if the actor has a good on-line resume or promotional site), no other contact information should appear (ie: NO mailing address). After the actor's name (professional name he/she plans to use and/or whatever is his/her official name if in the union(s)), include the phone or service number (try to get a local service number for the market, ie: In NYC, a 212 area code), e-mail address (if it would be checked regularly), and/or URL, as applicable; then height, weight, hair color, eye color. Character types and vocal range should be included if applicable (critical for a singer).
