Is Tobacco Safe?
Spit tobacco affects your dental health as well as the rest of your body. If you use smokeless tobacco and have thought about quitting, your dentist can help. In the meantime, here are a few facts that may help you decide to join the 200 million Americans who are tobacco-free. What is spit tobacco?
Spit tobacco includes snuff, a finely ground version of processed tobacco, and chewing tobacco in the form of shredded or pressed bricks and cakes, called plugs, or rope-like strands called twists. Users "pinch" or "dip" tobacco and place a wad in their cheek or between their lower lip and gums. In the United Kingdom, users often snort snuff. Isn't it safer than smoking?
Absolutely not. Some wrongly believe that spit tobacco is safer than smoking cigarettes. But spit tobacco is more addictive because it contains higher levels of addictive nicotine than cigarettes and can be harder to quit than cigarettes. One can of snuff delivers as much nicotine as 60 cigarettes.

Kidney Cancer General Information

General Information Epidemiology
It is expected that there will be about 30,000 new cases of kidney cancer (17,800 in men and 12,200 in women) in 1999 in the United States. In 1999 about 11,900 people (7,200 men and 4,700 women) will die from this disease. RCC accounts for about 85% of all kidney tumors. continue discovery Overview of the Kidneys
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs fixed to the back wall of the abdominal cavity. One kidney is to the left and the other is to the right of the backbone. Both are protected by the lower ribcage. The kidneys' function is to filter the blood and eliminate the body of excess fluid, salt and waste products. continue discovery Kidney Cancer - Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC)
RCC is the most common type of kidney cancer. RCC begins small and grows larger over time, like many other cancers. Based on limited observations, renal cancers appear to grow approximately 1 cm (1/2 inch) in diameter per year. RCC usually grows as a single mass. continue discovery

Bladder Cancer General Information

General Information The bladder and brief anatomic descriptions
The bladder is a hollow, muscular, spherical organ which sits within the pelvis. Generally, its size correlates roughly to that of a large grapefruit, but in certain abnormal conditions, it can grow to much larger proportions. Its function is to collect and store the urine that has been made in the kidneys. continue discovery Types of bladder cancers
More than 90% of bladder cancers are derived from the transitional epithelium and are thus called transitional cell carcinoma(TCC). The following list will categorize TCC from its "pre-invasive" state, known as carcinoma in situ, to its more invasive state when it penetrates beneath the epithelium, and finally to the point when it has metastasized or spread to distant organs. In addition, a short discussion will be made of the non-TCC bladder cancers. continue discovery What is Cancer?

http://www.coral.net/cancer/pancreas.html
This page is not meant to provide medical opinions, but attempts to provide overview/contact/starting information for those with pancreatic or other types of cancer. We found a lot of information when my mother was diagnosed ( details here - soon) and thought others might benefit from it. You should consult with a Dr. regarding any medical opinions. Everyone listed should consult with you free of charge to see if you could benefit from seeing them. All links were working, but if you discover one that is not working, please let us know . If you have another site or phone number that you think should be here, alsolet us know. Corrections are also welcome, but please be nice :-) One note, time is important. If you believe you have cancer, do not delay in getting checked because cancer caught early is more likely to be treatable. Days and weeks may count - at some point all cancer becomes much more difficult to treat and since you do not know whether that day is next month or next year you should treat it like it is sooner and hope it is later.
This is not to be alarmist, but if it is cancer, time counts, and if it is not cancer then you'll be relieved all that much sooner. Finally, as far as the statistics go everyone is different so don't accept the statistics, get involved and talk to your doctor. .

Yes. It could save your life. Pap smears are used primarily to detect cancer of the uterine cervix or precancerous conditions - abnormalities of the cervix that may lead to cancer. Since its introduction in the early 1940's, the Pap smear is credited with saving tens of thousands of women's lives and decreasing deaths from cervical cancer by more than 70%. The key is early detection made possible by microscopic examination of a specially treated sample of cervical cells. Every woman should have an annual Pap smear as part of a complete pelvic examination beginning when she becomes sexually active or reaches 18 years of age and continuing for the rest of her life.
