Celebrate Canada - Le Canada en Fête
While Canadians celebrate Canada Day on July 1, it is observed on Monday, July 2, 2001. It was not always called by that name. Before Confederation it was known as Dominion Day, celebrating the events that occurred on July 1, 1867, when The British North America Act created the Canadian federal government, "one Dominion under the name of Canada." On Oct. 27, 1982, Dominion Day was officially renamed "Canada Day" by an Act of Parliament. Successive Canadian governments have downplayed the colonial status. If Canada Day falls on Sunday, it is observed the following day, as it is this year. In the twelve days leading up to Canada Day, all Canadians are encouraged to celebrate their pride in their country by participating in "Celebrate Canada!" activities. From June 21, National Aboriginal Day, through Saint-Jean Baptiste Day on June 24, and culminating with Canada Day, you and your family may take part in a myriad of events and activities organized in your community. Have fun and "Celebrate Canada!

While these two great leaders are still the focal point of this National Holiday it is also a time to honor all of the presidents of the United States. Crafts and Activities:

Kinder Farm Camp For ages 4 and 5 (half days) In a working farm setting, children will see all those farm animals they've only heard about in nursery rhymes and stories. Through music, crafts, co-operative games, a horse-drawn wagon ride and ice cream-making, kindercampers explore every nook and cranny of the Museum's barns, exhibits, and gardens. Fun at the Farm Camp For ages 6 to 8 Kids will discover what makes farming fun. They'll learn what it means to care for animals as they "adopt" a cow for the week. From their own garden, they will harvest ingredients for their snack. Nature studies, crafts, games, and more will fill your kids' days with fresh air and fun.
