We are the Best in the West CHLA RN Internship Contact our Nurse Recruiter, Pam Datria at: (323) 669-2193 Email: rnintern@chla.usc.edu
As a recent graduate, you're probably wondering which new graduate RN program is right for you. With so many programs to choose from, it's difficult to distinguish between an inadequate program and an exceptional one. Besides, there are many variables to consider - some programs are longer than others; some pay more than others, many do not offer sufficient precepted time or a formal mentor program - ultimately, these programs do not meet the needs of new graduate nurses. Is it any wonder that first-year nurse turnover rates are so alarmingly high (46% in Southern California, and between 35% and 60% nation-wide).*
With this in mind, CHLA, a 314-bed, USC-affiliated teaching hospital, has developed the most innovative and comprehensive pediatric RN internship program available. Unlike most other new graduate programs, we designed our six-month RN Internship program to be a highly supportive and appropriately paced learning experience. *Healthcare Association of Southern California Turnover and Vacancy Trend Report final 3 quarters of 2000. ± Coeling HVE. Definitions: Some Perceived Differences Between Learning Support Centers and Developmental Education Because learning support and learning assistance centers are associated with the term "learning assistance," and because learning assistance is sometimes used as a synonym for "developmental education," the following quotations are offered to help make a distinction between a campus center (by whatever name it is labeled) and developmental education courses. "Second, a counseling approach is vital to success. By this is meant that the student is accepted as he is. He is welcomed with warmth and he is not judged. He relates to the learning assistance center staff in a collaborative manner to establish reasonable goals. Again this appears to be a simple approach, but it is frequently overlooked and it takes constant monitoring to maintain this attitude.
A California Postsecondary Education Commission report published as PROMISES TO KEEP: REMEDIAL EDUCATION IN CALIFORNIA'S PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, Commission Report #83-2, January 1983, stated that "Although such centers originally sprang from campus counseling in order to serve special-admission students, today they [learning assistance centers] are independent entities whose purpose is the development of academic skills for all students."

Evaluation of the Blended Teacher Education Program at California State University
Project Summary Key Staff Publications Project Summary SRI International is conducting an evaluation of the Blended Teacher Education Program at four California State University (CSU) campuses: CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and CSU Hayward. Sponsored by the Stuart Foundation, the evaluation is expected to be completed in January, 2003. The Blended Teacher Education Program at CSU is an accelerated teacher preparation program that enables teacher candidates to earn an undergraduate degree and a teaching credential in 4 years, rather than the traditional 5 or more years. Blended programs differ from other teacher preparation programs in that they serve undergraduate students who decide early that they want to be teachers. Blended programs aim to produce stronger candidates more quickly than traditional teacher preparation models, and to provide these candidates with early fieldwork experiences, and simultaneous content and pedagogical training.

Can you relate internment to as situation in which the Constitutional rights of a person or group are being ignored today? If so, what does the situation mean to you and to other Americans?
