Most of them are associated with brass bands rather than orchestras. If you live in an area where brass bands are popular, you might like to consider the Euphonium (a small tuba, so read the page about The Tuba), the Baritone Horn which is similar but has a narrower bore and not such a nice sound, or the Tenor Horn which is also similar but much smaller. There is also the Flugelhorn which is a still smaller tenor horn but is played held out in front of your face like a trumpet or cornet. Played horizontally via a series of valves on the top of the instrument which are opened and closed in various combinations to create different pitches.
