Ville Organisme Beaumont Beaumont Public Health Centre A bike rodeo is being organized by parent volunteers for all grades (K-4) at Beau Meadow School. It will take place Friday June 7, 2002. My role that day will be to teach parents how to check and fit helmets and work with them through the day. Checking children class by class. My proposal is to purchase helmets through a local sports store and to work with the Principal to develop a process to give helmet certificates to needy students. The parents will likely come with their child to the Health Centre to pick up the helmet and have it fitted properly. As promised in the last issue, here is the schedule of General membership meetings for the 2003 year: (Times and locations to be announced via email and the web page) December January February March May July August September October You probably noticed that there are two months missing from this list, April and June. That's not a mistake. There are no meetings scheduled for those months. With trying to work around religious holidays and other rodeos in April and various Pride celebrations in June, it just wasn't feasible to have meetings scheduled. Just a reminder that Board meeting are open to members who wish to attend. They will be held the 2nd Thursday of every month this year at the Capital Hilton. Check the schedule marquee at the hotel for the room.

FITNESS FOR LIFE
This article by Dr. Dunn appeared in the July, 2002 issue of
Dog World Magazine Physical fitness for dogs and humans has rewards that far outweigh the struggle that's required to become fit. “Nugget” was a Golden Retriever… and a member of our family for sixteen, memorable years. And one of the fondest memories I will carry with me the rest of my life is of the innumerable early morning runs we took together along the old forested logging roads just outside our door in northern Wisconsin. Her enthusiasm for the forty-minute exercise sessions sparked my commitment to good health, especially on those mornings when I’d rather have skipped our run and she just wouldn’t allow it. Until kidney disease claimed her at age sixteen, her state of health was excellent and despite an arthritic spine, her mobility was always very good. Far outweighing the inconvenience of committing time and effort to achieve physical fitness, the rewards of being physically fit, for man and dog, will last a lifetime. And those rewards can actually be felt physically and emotionally.

TALENT AND INTEREST SURVEY
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Print out this talent and interest survey and check off all the things you have done. Then put a star by all of the things you want to do in your lifetime. It's OK to have a check and a star by your interest if you wish to improve in this talent. When you are done, you will find that you are a very talented person and you probably didn't even know it. And, even better, you have goals you never thought of before. Look at all those stars and find the ten things you want to do the most. Those are the goals you should concentrate on first. Every month or so review your progress and set new goals. When you accomplish your first ten goals Jaredstory.com confers an honorary B.S. Degree (Better Soul Degree). Of course it's not real, but doesn't it sound good? When you accomplish ten more goals Jaredstory.com will confer an honorary M.S. (More Soul Degree) and when you accomplish the achievement of thirty goals you get an honorary Ph.D., (Phenomenally Dedicated Degree). WoW! See what you have done in such a short time! Don't set any limits on yourself. You are not too old or too young. Who cares how "smart" you are. You are not too short or too tall, too fat or too thin. Don't tell me you are too clumsy, can't see, walk, or hear. There is always something you can do to improve your life and enhance your skills. As long as you've got a brain and you can think, you can accomplish a goal.

http://www.quorndon.com/parishcouncil/documents/plan-quorn/plan.html
A Plan for Quorn Quorndon Parish Council's Policies and Plans 1999 Foreword The Parish Council acknowledges that it is for the people of Quorn to decide what kind of community they want to live in. This is not to say that the Council has the power to make happen everything we would like to see, but if we do not express our views, we cannot exert influence on those decisions in National and Local Government which are likely to affect us in the future. Structure and Local Plans exist for the County and the Borough and we are constrained to work within these. As your elected local representatives the Parish Council has produced "A Plan for Quorn" following wide consultation with the community. The document provides information about the issues and states the Council's policies. The plan is regularly reviewed, updated and published by the Council. Comment on its content is welcome at any time. John Hutchinson
Chairman, Quorndon Parish Council The Refurbished Cross 1. INTRODUCTION This is a statement of the Parish of Quorndon's policies and plans for the future. It is reviewed regularly by the Parish Council and progress is reported at the Annual Parish Meeting. Although the Parish Council has limited powers and finance, it can, with the support of parishioners, influence events, initiate and support projects, and reflect the wishes of the residents of Quorn about the way the village develops or is affected by internal or external pressures. The Parish Plan is designed to be compatible with, and complementary to, Charnwood Borough Council's Local Plan and Leicestershire County Council's Structure Plan.

He and other volunteers put in an enormous amount of time and effort building and maintaining trails. Judging from the work they have done on trails such as the Backbone trail at Corral Canyon, Guadalasca and Wood Canyon Overlook trails in Sycamore Canyon, Wendy Trail above Newbury Park, Hunmmingbird Trail in Simi Valley, and recent work at Cheeseboro, these trail crews are obviously quite competent in their knowledge of trail work. My feelings regarding CORBA-led volunteer trail work of late in no way diminishes my respect and appreciation for CORBA and all it has done to increase access for mountain bikers in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. I am an active member and plan to continue participating in the process. Rich Pinder and the CORBA Board of Directors can be reached at:

Bio: After Encina, U.C. Berkeley (majored in Political Science and Economics), then on to Washington, D.C. for 6 years. First as a lobbyist for the State of California (yes, I worked for Jerry Brown) and then for the House Banking Cmte. Then wicked New York where I straddled the Atlantic for the first six of ten years in the city, working for various Wall Street firms. Great fun starting mortgage companies in the UK (truly learned the meaning of "two cultures separated by a common language"). One year off for travel. Since returning to the US in '96, I've been bi-coastal, working for a NY firm, but trying to do so from either Lake Tahoe or San Francisco.
Trivia: I discovered the upside of downsizing. When the mortgage market tanked, I took the entire year of 1995 to travel around the world put everything in storage and didn't return to the U.S. until Christmas. An unforgettable experience, from the jungles of Papua New Guinea, the top of Mt Kilimanjaro, the deep of the Great Barrier Reef, the Great Wall of China, the outback of Australia, the ruins of ancient Turkey and so much more. And who would have guessed I'd end up back in my old job. Such a wonderful gift the year was.
Hobbies: Heli-skiing, scuba diving, tennis, biking and I'm even trying golf.
