Extractions: Terry has been fishing since he was four years old, first in the lakes and rivers of north Alabama and later the marshes of the Mississippi River Delta and offshore. He began to sporadically pursue billfish 15 years ago and became seriously interested over the last five years. Terry and his Gringo team fish 12 to 18 tournaments a year, mostly club events of the New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club or the Baton Rouge Big Game Fishing Club. In addition they typically fish the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic, the Pensacola International and Mobile Big Game Fishing Club's Invitational Labor Day tournaments. In 2000, Terry also fished the Bisbee Black and Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament and the WBS Grand Championship in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. Personal Records Terry has never weighed a billfish. His best day on sailfish has been nine releases, and he has personally caught a grand slam and participated in another. He once caught a wahoo that was too big for the fish box, so he cleaned the fish offshore, with the cleaned carcass weighing more than 100 pounds back at the dock. Terry has taken multiple dolphin over 50 pounds, as well as tuna topping 175. One of his greatest angling accomplishments and fondest memories is the five-pound bass caught when he was five years old with the assist of his now 90-year-young grandmother.

Extractions: Wrestling Background Terry McCann reached the pinnacle of wrestling success by winning the Gold Medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics. The road to this achievement was difficult but also details the drive and determination of one Terry McCann. This determination was first brought to light at the 1952 Illinois High School State Wrestling Championships. With a record that still holds true today, Terry McCann pinned his State Championship Finals opponent in 57 seconds. Terry went on to the University of Iowa to become a three time All American, including being a two time NCAA Champion in 1955 and 1956. He only had three losses in three years of collegiate competition, with those three losses all occurring during his sophomore year. In 1957 Terry moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, following his graduation from the University of Iowa where he worked to support a wife and growing family while also training to make the 1960 US Olympic team. Working out with a strong club team, Terry won three consecutive AAU National Championships at 125.5 pounds. In addition to his National Championship victories, Terry also recorded the only undefeated record against international competition, including a very tough Russian team. Against the Russians, Terry went 7-0-1. The one draw was against a competitor who stalled the entire match. Terry then retired from active competition and focused on coaching. His jr. high school teams won All State honors repeatedly. He moved back to Chicago and took over the Mayor Daly team which won a total of six freestyle National Championships and five Greco Roman National Championships unseating perennial powerhouse, The San Francisco Olympic Club. Terry accomplished this coaching the team for only seven years.

However when a business endeavor transferred him to Dana Point, California, Terry took up the sport with a vengeance. He became a member of the San Onofre Surfing Club and hit the surf on a daily basis learning the intricacies of paddling, standing and turning. Being an Olympic Wrestling Champion, Terry was not satisfied to be stagnant in his ability on a board. Continual improvement was the norm and he quickly excelled to the point of where he was taking off on waves double his height. However, Terry found that his abilities were better served in an administrative role. Surfrider Foundation, an environmental organization dedicated to preserving the near shore coastline, was going through growing pains. Surfing friend, Tom Pezman, coerced Terry to run for the Board of Directors. In 1993 Terry was elected to the Surfrider Board of Directors and was immediately placed into the position of President of the Board of Directors. Terry served as President of the Surfrider Board of Directors from 1993 until 1997. During that time he spearheaded the Strategic Planning Committee through which he redefined who and what Surfrider is; incorporated standard business reporting measures; oversaw operations to take the organization out of the red and into a fiscally solvent organization; as well as driving overall awareness of Surfrider to all time highs among the vast surfing population.

His most general contention, that Socrates' intention in the slave boy episode should be taken ironically, deserves serious consideration inasmuch as Socrates frequently seems to adopt an ironic persona. I take Professor Boyles to be arguing: (1) that Socrates believes genuine teaching and learning to be threatened by the peculiar form of the fraudulent claim of the Sophists to provide knowledge; (2) that Socrates shows the counterfeit character of the Sophists' manner of teaching by engaging in it himself with the slave boy; and (3) that far from legitimizing sophistry, Socrates' use of it shows its limits and points the way to a genuine manner of teaching, which will bring true knowledge, and presumably, wisdom. Evaluation of these claims centers on what is meant by "sophistry," and so it is to this question that I want to turn.

For many of us, the images of Terry are still fresh in our minds. We remember the crowds cheering him on. The children running along beside him. His determination. His conviction that, as he put it, "Anything is possible when you try; dreams are made possible when you try." Terry didnt set out to become famous, but he became a hero by shattering myths and stereotypes about disabled people. He continues to inspire Canadians from all walks of life young and old, able-bodied and disabled, men and women. Every year, thousands of Canadians join in the annual Terry Fox Run, which has raised over $300 million for cancer research. He inspires Canadians who more than anything want to make a difference. Extractions: Presented Friday May 10th at 5 pm Electro-acoustic music, born in the aftermath of the second world war, never had any instrinsic developmental relationship to musical form, though its sonological style has been closely bound to the timbral and gestural idioms endemic to its underlying technological basis. The emergence of mathtemical objects with highly aesthetic properties of self-affinity, fractal dimensionality, and simple iterative encodings of structural unpredictability has led to a desire to explore such objects within the realm of electro-acoustic music. This paper explores the uses and ramifications of these appropriations. In order to understand the attractiveness of utilizing Chaos in Electro-Acoustic Music, it is helpful to understand a basic taxonomy of the objects of Chaos theory. I put forth a categorization based on four major families : (I) Strange Attractors, (II) Julia Sets, (III) Cellular Automata, and (IV) Classical Fractals.
