5-0 out of 5 stars Still relevant!
I just purchased this book, I am also a web designer, although it is already outdated the theories presented by the author makes this book relevant to newer versions of HTML etc. This book is still a must fordesigners and a would be CLASSIC!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners
I bought this book after taking on the task of learning *gasp* all of the facets of web programming and design, hoping this would be currentinformation. A lot of it is. If you're still developing and writing HTML inthe 3.0 version. I was surprisingly let down by this part of the Unleashedseries, which is usually known for high quality info. Not that it isn't agood book, it's just out of date. ** Wondering how to get money back now**.. My advice.. keep looking. This one is just not current enough to beuseful for so much of what's new now. Sorry Mr. Stanek, et al.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, but that was 2 years ago.
This book was great when I first started reading it....2 years ago.The author was well organized and very informative in his descriptions. If youwant basic knowledge, and then to expand on present material, this is thebook for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Information is Too Old
Although this book has great content, the information is too outdated.According to this book Java and frames, are not supported by IE. This bookis still teaching HTML 2 and HTML 3 (not 3.2). Don't expect to learn thatmuch about Java and CGI from this book either because it explains what theyare more that it teaches how to create applets and scripts using them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Information in one excellent book
Stanek did something 'heroic'. He wrote an overview in which every topic is written down in a clear and understandable way. The book is not just a summary, but it shows how several 'languages' could be used in web publishing, how to choose for a language, it's pros and cons, and how they can cooperate. It was about time that such a book was written, because many people could be overloaded with information without knowing what to do with it. By buying and reading this book you won't get 'overloaded'. Stanek takes you to a point from where he shows you what the possibilities are, what the differences are and how to make decisions in good design. For newbies and experienced people who are working in the field of webdesign, marketing and programming business a must! (Mr. Stanek, I owe you one..) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
Ok, my written english isn't good at all, but I'd just wanna say how much I love this book. I have been studying html and css for some time now, and I already knew something when I bought this book, and what I think great about it is that it's so detailed about how the things work in html, xhtml and css that it's like if I was learning everything from the beginning again, but this time knowing exactly what I was doing and why.

Well, that's it.. sorry for my english.

5-0 out of 5 stars For both beginners and experts
I've taught HTML and e-commerce at the university level for about a decade now. This book is the best I have found.I use it as my personal reference.I require it for my classes.

It covers the essentials. It gives clear examples. It is organized in a logical order that works. It can be used by someone who has never tried to build a web page, and also has enough 'meat' so that those who have been building pages for years can find useful information and tips throughout.

I just wish I could find books on some of my other subjects that are as well written and organized as this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok
This book is ok.I had to get it for a class. The writing is alittle hard to follow, but it is a good reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners
I purchased this book to use in a class I was taking.I had no prior knowledge of HTML, but this book does an excellent job of introducing the reader to designing web pages.I found the chapters very easy to follow and the exercises were kind of fun as you got to practice what you just read about.I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn HTML.

2-0 out of 5 stars To bias
I bought this book recomended by some site. I quickly found out although it does go into some detail of Netscape browser it highly discourages people to use them and goes further by asking them to skip the netscape sections. This book encourages people to support Microsoft and encourages people to use code that is not compatible with other browsers in a since.

A lot of helpfull info in it but because of its bias strategy I give it a 2. Book is somewhat old now but decided to learn the older stuff so what I learned to code would be compatible with almost any browsers. Im gonna have to say I would discourage making this book a choice for your studies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Intro Book
This book is a great for anyone wishing to learn HTML.It's clear and very informative.Beginner and intermediate HTML users will find it a great buy.

It's only short-coming is the absence of a list of tags and their uses."HTML 4" by Elizabeth Castro has this, and it is very useful for a quick reference. However the Castro Text is less suited for a beginner.

The 6 in 1 guide covers HTML, CSS, and DHTML as well or better than many texts that cover only one of these subjects. The book really explains why things are done, instead of showing you how to do something but not telling you why you'd want to do it.

You'll be very happy with the book if you're just starting out.

5-0 out of 5 stars HTML Review
Excellent reference book for the beginner in web publishing. HTML is the only way to go and this book will give you a firm understanding of "how to do it". There are a lot of books on this subject, butthis is the one of choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Terrific book for beginners
This is a terrific book for beginners; it has clear, easy-to-understand examples and gives you info other books assume you already know; like how to actually PUBLISH your site; but it has a couple of shortcomings thatprevent me from giving it five stars.First, the section on VRML is acomplete waste.Secondly, the scripting sections leave a bit to bedesired, but they at least give you an introduction to basic scripting andDHTML.This is a good reference book for amateur web designers and afabulous starter course for HTML newbies; however, more advanced webdevelopers won't benefit at all from it; and even newbies will quicklyoutgrow it.That's a testament to how well it conveys the information!

5-0 out of 5 stars The only HTML book you will ever need!
For the intermediate level HTML programmer, this book covers a wide variety of topics such as style sheets, dynamic HTML, scripting, table and frame design, etc.I refer to it constantly. ... Read more

Naturally, you should clear your schedule if you really want to learn VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) 2.0 in three weeks. You need to study carefully to become proficient in this language, which is the standard lingo for creating 3-D graphics and animations for the Web. Luckily, the authors of this book are careful to take you from basic VRML concepts to tricky scripting tasks quite smoothly, enabling you to build on each lesson as you go. And, of course, you can extend the 21 days to 210 if you want. At any rate, you learn how to build scenes and complex objects, define object behavior and interaction, create animations and special effects, and use collision detection. You can also learn how to create new node types and write VRML scripts. The book is intended for beginners, not programmers. In the appendices you get reference guides to VRML nodes, fields, and event types, as well as a glossary. A hybrid CD-ROM includes sample VRML worlds, HTML editors, and graphics utilities. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A very good book for VRML 2 Programmer
This was my first book for VRML2. Although I do lots of graphics programming in C/C++ and Open GL, I am sure that this book will be equally easy for those who want to start web 3D programming. If you know java script then this can be a good guide for VRML scripting. I would like to thank the author for his work. I did my entire project on VRML with the help of this book only ...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great intro to VRML
Although I have some previous programming experience (2 C++ classes in college), I'm usually able to grasp the basic concepts pretty easily. This book is no exception, but it certainly isn't related to C++ or anything like that, so it really is like starting from the beginning to me.But itwas still easy to grasp the concepts (so far anyway, I'm only about 1/3through the book) and apply them following the author's exercises. CosmoPlayer (the VRML plugin for your browser) is in version 2.1 now (thebook's CD includes version 1.0) so a visit to cosmo software wouldbe good. Also, they make WYSIWYG editors for VRML, so don't think that youwon't be able to write VRML just because you can't remember all the code -I assume it's like a 3D Studio Max interface.

The only reason I didn'tgive this book 5 stars is because the author seems to assume you completelyunderstand everything the very first time he explains it to you.I've hadto go back and re-read several sections so that I could understandsomething later in the book, but I suppose if he kept explaining conceptsover and over again then the book would be twice as long.Great book ifyou're interested in the VRML world.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent all round VRML reference book
I have read alot of the web3d/vrml books over the years, and this book is the best one I have read so far.The book starts with easy to understand concept and example to show you what VRML can do, and what VRML ispossible. It is suitable for both beginnerand advance users. Thecomplimentary CD-ROM is very helpful and is a great time saver for anyonewho wants to use the example and script in the book. This is the best VRMLbook I have read so far.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction into VRML2
This book is a great introduction to VRML2.Clear concise and will take you through the basic building blocks for programming VRML worlds. However it dosen't cover Java integration, which I believe is needed if you want tomake an advanced world. If only all computing guides were this logical andclear!great introduction

5-0 out of 5 stars absolutely excellent introduction to VRML

It follows a logical step by step progression."sams net"should be proud of this one. This is the best introduction to VRML I haveseen on the market. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Much Fluff
At first glance, I was attracted to this book by its sleek page design. The information is well-organized, sections and chapters are clearly labeled, and there are full-color images included. But upon reading through just part of it, I was disappointed by the amount of pure "fluff" that is included! There is too much info about the history of the internet and html, which I think most people reading this book will already have a handle on. Also, code samples are repeated multiple times, adding a few lines each time, which is totally unnecessary. Finally, there are WAY too many typos! I think a monkey was the editor.

Another complaint I have is that the book doesn't get into the really fun, unique things that you can do with CSS. For a book that claims to be aimed at designers, the samples given are amazingly dull. Don't expect to be wowed! Only in the last two or three chapters are some more advanced techniques shown, and there is no code or explanation of how it's done. (Although a website IS given, and it is accessible at the time that I write this.) Maybe if the book wasn't so redundant about the basics, there would have more room to explain!

Now, having aired my complaints, there are some things I like about the book. Having thumbed through several other CSS manuals, including the much touted Eric Meyers books, I was struck by this books clear explanations and step-by-step examples. It is appropriate for beginners, who won't want to be presented with pages and pages of code. Pictures and colorful borders/highlighting liven up the text.

In sum, I definitely wouldn't pay list price of $45 for this book, but a nice used copy would be great for the beginner CSS writer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book! Terrible Proofreader!
This is perhaps the best book I've seen on style sheets. It isn't overpowering in an attempt to cover EVERYTHING. The author does an outstanding job of showing just how simple style sheets can be. Many other books leave you with the impression that CSS is just another complex web discipline. For me, something very simply expressed in this book suddenly made me "get it" - The fact that background images and colors can be applied to ANY block-level element. This opens up all kinds of design possibilities. My site's table-based layout was so deeply nested that you had to search long and hard just to find the appropriate table data cell to place a sentence in. With this book, which has an entire chapter devoted to deconstructing a table-based layout and reconstructing it with CSS, I was able to reduce my site's pages down to a fraction of their original size, and now the mark-up for those pages looks more like an easy to read text document than a nightmare of table tags. The site looks exactly as intended in all browsers I've tried and has a pristine and sharp appearance. The changeover was fast and easy, and now, because of CSS, changes are as simple as changing a sentence in a document.
My only complaint with this book is that it had a great number of errors in the manuscript: Things like "and" just appearing in the middle of a sentence out of context. It appears that nobody proofread this manuscript. If someone did, he or she needs to go into a different line of work. Proofreaders can't be skimmers. Although this was annoying, and a shame in a large, colorful work, the author's ability to convey the material still came through. Her work was five-star. Sybex's work on getting it ready for print was 2-star at best. Still, it is definitely worth buying and is truly a concise, problem-solving book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent primer on CSS
I grabbed this book at Barnes & Noble and sat in the cafe with a cup of coffee just to check it out. 2 hours later I felt like I had just learned an amazing amount of information.

When I got home I started reading the reviews of this book on Amazon and was dumbfounded by the criticism of this book.

This book is fantastic for the person who hates "computer talk" books. You know what I'm talking about... books that are written so dryly and by people who write so technically that you can barely understand anything you are reading.

This book is like a breath of fresh air. The fact that the author provides a history of SGML, HTML, XHTML, CSS and such is great because it givesyou an underlying basis of knowledge, a foundation from which to grow.

Her style of writing is conversational, perhaps a bit repetitive but that helps drive home the concepts. I did not find it distracting at all. I like this style of writing because it helps me to learn better. The book takes a measured, logical approach to the subject. I put this book down realizing that I had LEARNED the fundamentals of CSS without any confusion whatsoever.

This book is not intended for people already familiar with CSS concepts. It is best for newbies to the subject. I've looked at a lot of CSS books and I would rate this as one of the best I've ever read. Even better than the knowledgable Eric Meyer books. I prefer this author's style of writing compard to Eric's. However, Eric's books are more comprehensive and are better suited for taking you to the next level.

The biggest negative with this book is that there arenumerous typos and errors. an astute reader may pick them out quite easily but it is a very poor reflection on the publisher and that is why I can only rate this book a 4.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid and Worthwhile Introduction to CSS
For someone new to CSS (and whose genes are not coded in hexadecimal), this is exactly the right book.Instead of providing a semi-random survey of a given technology or an exhaustive listing of its syntax (as so many other computer authors do), this author seeks to provide her readers with an understanding of that technology.Using clear and simple examples, she leads her readers through HTML, XHTML, and CSS in a way that provides a beginner with a solid foundation for understanding how best to approach web page design with CSS.

With this understanding in place, the reader will then be ready to move on to the "Technical Reference Manuals of CSS" that many of the other reviewers of this book seem to wish they had bought instead.

2-0 out of 5 stars Beginners only - and wait for next edition
This book is very beautiful, printed on high quality paper, with high quality screen shots. But it is boring, by repeating the simplest things over and over. If you need to be guided by hand and can't remember what was written on the previous page, you need this book. If you have the slightest idea about CSS already you should put your money elsewhere.

This book could easily be 30% (or more!) smaller. Every sample is repeated, adding one new line to the styles or HTML at the time. Even dummy text is repeated: one half page dummy text is repeated four times! I didn't buy this book to read poetry (or whatever it is).

At the end of the book there's a display of the "gurus" web sites - but not a single line of CSS to show what they did to achieve this! The author doesn't even use her own web site as an example. She could have shown how she built it and why (assuming she knows...?)

I'm sure the author knows CSS inside out (much better than I do). But this book is not for designers nor for implementers. There are no useful, complete samples - a total of seven pages deal with "Experimenting with layout"!!!

Things that are not addressed in this book:
Using alternate style sheets
How to use :focus
The future of CSS - a heads up on CSS2 would have been nice.
How to use attribute selectors (the book says: "The level of control that can be gained by using this type of selector is quite amazing when you think about it". I thought about it, but still think the book should have shown me why it is so "amazing")
How to create ANY layout - you can find the two mentioned on the web in 0.01 second using Google.

Finally, Sybex did a poor job proof reading this book (if they did it!). Beginners should not (and can not?) find and correct errors in code. I wrote Sybex to tell them about 12 specific problems between page 43 and 83 (there are plenty more). They replied "Sorry you didn't like it." ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This book is a great introduction to 3d modeling
I am a heavy reader of computer programming/WWW books and, naturally, this book caught my eye. It is great. It gives a lot of tangent facts about 3d graphics modeling on the whole, the web, the history of VRML, and gives examples of common VRML nodes. You will learn a lot more than VRML from this book. However, you will not learn enough VRML coding to really get you satisfied, and should find another more "hardcore" VRML book to supplement this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars nice starting point
If you know nothing about VRML, this book is very useful. If you know a little, this book tells you more. But you can't get into the core of VRML with only this book. ... Read more

This book is GREAT for self study.I orignally had bought it for a class at college.I found myself reading the book in class instead of listening to the lecture and with some practice at home I was able to learn the firstfour weeks of the class in only a few days. This book is a very good bookfor beginners. The author is very good about explaining the concepts ofHTML by using one main example for each new skill being taught. He couldhave went a little more in depth with frames, but I have yet to find a bookthat explains how to make frames very easily. The author also touches abit of javascript which was nice.Definately worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars in 24 hours or even far less
This is a great book to learn how to create your own website. It teaches you all the basic skills in 24 chapters of 1 hour each. However, if you have any basic knowledge of MS office programs, you can do each chapter in about 30-45 minutes. Also, because of the rational order of the chapters, you do not have to wait for the last chapter before you can start creating your own web pages.

The Dutch version that I was using came with FrontPage Express on the accompanying CD-Rom and even though my website is by this time already 8 megs, it is still the program I am using instead of the very expensive full version of FrontPage. So this book was awfully good value for money. And making a website is real fun, so try it!

1-0 out of 5 stars reviews are WRONG....this book focuses on FrontPage Express!
I bought this book because I wanted help working with Netscape Composer. The reviews indicate that this book focuses on this shortware. Unfortunately, the Second Edition (1999) does mentions Netscape Composer twice and includes ONE page discussing Composer. The rest of the book deals with use of FrontPage Express. I'll be returning this disappointment.

5-0 out of 5 stars I was clueless!
From an earlier review: <>

Had to laugh; that's me! I've got grandkids this kids age. I checked this out atthe library, renewed it twice, and had to HAVE it. I especially liked thatit's equally good for Macs and those others. This got me through getting myfirst web site up and running -- I don't intend to use it for marketing oranything else high traffic. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource.
I have been in the web design arena for over five years and I am always looking for new book to enhance my knowledge base. I am also an instructor and also I am looking for book to make my classes better. This book covers both objectives and makes learning easier in the process.

Starting off the 440 page book is the basics of both HTML and XHTML with using and working with body text, headings and images. Working with links and URLs through relative and absolute references is nexton the list of topics covered.

There is a very good section for the use ofand creation of CSS both internal and external sheets. Tables, lists, forms and Frames take up the next several chapters with techniques to make the work easier and save time.

Then comes client side scripting, adding sights and sounds through different multimedia techniques. I was very impressed with the meta tag and search engine use sections. The book goes ina step-by-step instruction method with screen shots, notes and tips to help along the way.

The book comes with four projects that when completed will give you a much greater understanding of the world of web design. Also included is a cd-rom with practice files and with everything together you have a very complete package to work with. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Title Should Say "By Dummies"!
This is absolutely the worst book I have ever attempted to read.I agree with the other reviewers' remarks concerning the author's cutesy feeble attempts at humor.More irritating, however, is his failure to describe adequately the topics on which he touches, and the organization of the book is poor.He tells you part of something in one chapter, and maybe another part of it in another chapter - or not at all. When you apply the instructions he provides, the result often doesn't work, and there is nothing in the book to help you figure out why.

Most of the section headings are extremely stupid puns. Now, I have nothing against puns, mind you, but there is an enormous difference between a smart pun and a stupid one.Damon Dean must not be able to get the smart ones.Yet from a navigational standpoint, using puns in headings is really stupid. The headings are what a reader relies on to locate a topic.Any competent writer knows that. When puns are used in the headings, the reader is at a real loss about the subsumed topic, which completely defeats the purpose of the headings in the first place.

The old adage "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with B. S." no doubt applies here.Generally when a speaker or writer succeeds only in confusing the audience, it's because he doesn't know what he's talking about.I would venture to say that that is the case with Damon Dean.

If this were the only book a person had for learning how to use cascading style sheets, he would give up on the subject altogether before he got halfway through.I, for one, will never waste my money on a "For Dummies" book again!

2-0 out of 5 stars Only if you really are a dummy!
While it's true that the Dummies series are supposed to provide a way for the less-proficient to easily get their feet wet, this installment is so annoyingly scripted as to be headache-inducing. The author attempts to lighten the load by injecting humor into the book. But the jokes are bad and they mostly just clutter the author's run-on sentences. The text is so cutesy at times I found myself actually getting fatigued reading it. This book could be simplified and probably cut down by 50 pages if the author would dispense with the "funny" interjections and just focus on the topic.

Of course, it's just a beginner's guide, so the book serves no practical reference purpose after you get through it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Who edited this book?
The writing in this book is muddy, and like another reviewer here, I had to buy a second book to figure out what this book was saying. Since Dummies books are for beginners, a logical order running from easy to difficult should be used. This author is all over the place.

The above is bad enough, then add to this the obvious fact that the book was merely spell-checked but never looked at by an editor (or at least by one who knows grammar and syntax).

The code isn't consistent, and the index has errors.

Don't buy this book. It was obviously pushed out the publisher's door without any attempt to make sure customers get their money's worth. Don't you get ripped off too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wow - amazing this ever got published!
The author mingles in many personal remarks which clutters the content substantially, making for a difficult, annoying read. After finding another introductory & intermediate CSS book, & then comparing the two, I can honestly say CSS For Dummies is not organized well, has examples which do not contain vital information or a variety of applications.Based on other books I've owned & read, this book is a poor choice when learning CSS.

Worst of all, there was at least one sample file on the included CD where illegal [chemical] use was cited in the text (see Ch8_fixed.html on the CD - the author writes about "being pissed", and taking [a chemical]).Examples as this clearly make the book an undesirable selection - especially for youth trying to learn CSS.There are simply no reasons for either using offensive language or blatant references to illegal [chemical] use in a book like this.

I'll never buy another "Dummies" book again.

1-0 out of 5 stars too many mistakes
Full of errors and mistakes -- not only this, but the author is impossible to follow.Had to buy another book on the topic.Stay away. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for a beginner on a PC
Creating Web Pages by Preston Gralla and Matt Brown (ISBN 0-672-32690-6) does start out well. It gives one a great overview of what the internet is and how it works. The book then proceeds to explain the basics of HTML and how to plan out a website in very comprehensive and understandable language. After the first three chapters, you have to skip ahead to find out how to effectively prepare and add graphics to your pages. In between, there are chapters dealing with building websites on Geocities or using Yahoo PageBuilder or Netscape Composer to actually build your site. The problem I had is that everything is really geared to PC - Window based users. I have a MAC and there is really nothing in the author's approach to show that things change and that there are differences between the MAC and PC platforms and how pages may appear.

The last third of the book deals with eBay listings and Blogs. The section about eBay is pretty extensive, giving the reader all sorts of helpful information about everything from finding items to sell to preparing effective graphics to post to pricing and effective ad copy writing. If interested in opening an eBay store, this is a great resource to turn to. Again, the authors explain things thoroughly and in an easy to read manner.

Finally, there is a section about Blogs, which was interesting, since I have never really had a clear understanding of what a Blog was. So while helpful, not something I am interested in creating.

Overall, the book is good for a beginner with a PC. It is excellent if you want to sell on eBay. If you are a MAC user, I'd recommend finding another book.

4-0 out of 5 stars iconic usages
As the web has grown, several modalities of usage have become iconic. In response, Gralla and Brown explain 4 of these. To be sure, entire books are devoted to eBay alone, for instance. But this AllInOne text steps back and offers a consistent thematic understanding. Based on being able to make a web page.

The early part of the book goes over HTML basics. You need mastery of this to proceed. The book then gives the 4 modalities as case studies. You may well not want to learn all of them. But if you are reading this, you're probably interested in at least one. The utility of the exposition is to show how learning the chapters for that can give you skills transferable to the other topics.

Now of these topics, blogging has the skimpiest coverage. This might reflect its realities. Most blogs afford you some graphics that you can alter, as a blogger. Like uploading images. But blogging is primarily textual.

The eBay section is far more extensive. For some of you, it may also be the most compelling. Since unlike the other modalities, this is about directly making money. To this ends, if you are interested in this section, read the descriptions about using images in your auctions. Of all the actions you can do as a seller, providing a good image of your item has been shown, on average, to yield higher bids. This also nicely ties into an earlier section of the book, that discusses using Photoshop to improve your digital photos. ... Read more

Taking its name from the Silicon Graphics/Sony/World Makers VRML 2.0 proposal, Exploring Moving Worlds outlines the feature and syntax transition from VRML 1.x to 2.0. Like many other VRML books, this handbook begins with background information and history. Exploring Moving Worlds then quickly jumps into a description of the "tool that is VRML." The bulk of the book's 260 pages outlines the technical underpinnings of the tool, with a focus on how the specifications have changed. This focus will be most useful to seasoned VRML 1.x users who are seeking to make the transition to the latest release.

It is the last chapter of Exploring Moving Worlds that makes this publication stand out from the crowd. The author wraps up all of the intense technical tutelage with a smart segment on the importance of design in creating 3-D worlds. VRML developers of all experience levels stand to benefit from the book's insightful discussions of everything from user interface to cooperative Web-object development. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for beginners!
I absolutely love this book. I learn best in a hands on environment but being able to see all the pictures they provided worked just as well. I actually got this book to go with a class I took with BNU online and have loved it all. Each topic is only a few pages long and it's easy to reference when you just need a quick peek to refresh your memory. I love the fact that the book gets right to the point and doesn't waste my time with fluff and information I'm not really interested in. This is a great book for beginners and perfect if you want to learn the basics to creating your own web page. I already have one for myself and am now going to have the opportunity to create two for friends who are going into business. Definately worth every penny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful start to learn HTML
I have been working with HTML for nearly four years, but to teach it to a beginner is often mind boggling for it is like learning another language - worse, it is code and tags not words for people to relate to, for it is often intimidating to people wanting to learn but are floored when they first start.

This is THE book for people starting out.It covers all aspects in easy to understand terms, the directions are simply, clear step-by-step with screen shots, so you can see precisely what they are taking about.

Comes with a CD ROM as well. You will be creating web pages in no time at all and keep this to repeatedly refer to as you grow in skill.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT book
This book is extremely well organized. In fact, this book is so well constructed that it works perfectly as both a learning guide and a reference manual, later on.Each chapter is a single topic and only 1 to 3 pages in length. All topics are illustrated with examples. The examples are explained with the appropriate portions of the example text circled, so there is no confusion as to what the author is referring to.In the vast wasteland of computer books, this one stands out as how it should be done! ...
