Well-Organized but With Errors
I bought this book after studying the Nath "Texas Content Areas" book, so it was more of a supplemental guide for me than my primary study guide.

It's a well-organized and well-presented study manual although I didn't find it to be quite as thorough as the Nath book.The TEKS competencies are covered pretty well, and the authors did a nice job of explaining the thought process behind how to answer the sample questions.

One plus is that it does have three sample tests, but there are a few errors on those tests that left me frustrated.The material covered on three exams in the book had similar content, and when it came to the material on the actual TExES test I took, there were some questions in the manual that were not pertinent.It could, however, vary depending on the bank of questions currently available for the test. ... You Can Do It!!!

Rip-Off!
The online tests are exactly the same as the ones in the book. The answer choices for the test questions are badly written, so someone with no knowledge of teaching could pick them out. Also, prospective teachers need only take one of the 3 pedagogy tests so grouping EC-4,4-8,and 8-12 together is not useful. The 'analysis' and 'explanation' of the Texas teaching standards at the beginning of the book are so general and common sense they're not worth the paper they're printed on. I haven't tried any other books so can't compare, but I recommend ruling this one out! ... Read more
