5-0 out of 5 stars HITS ALL THE RIGHT NOTES
Music lessons will be seen in a new light after reading Tuba Lessons by T.C. Bartlett, illustrated by Monique Felix.

The imaginative record of a boy's trip to his music teacher's house is a bouncy, fun book to which any child who has ever taken a music lesson can quickly relate. The text is sprightly, and the illustrations vibrant.

5-0 out of 5 stars What Fun !
This is a picture book the highest quality. It is a bit like Little Red Riding Hood, except instead of a little girl, there is a little boy.Instead of a hood and a basket, there is a Tuba.Instead of grandma, there is a Tuba instructor.Instead of the wolf, there are a forest full of animals, all enamored by the tuba. And there is no bloody ending.

Ok.It is nothing like Little Red Riding Hood. But it is a lot of fun.I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tuba Lessons is a Musical Delight
On his way to his tuba lesson, a young boy is swept up by the magic of a woods full of singing animals. Is it real, or is it a dream?Share this beautifully illustrated picture book with young children and creative adultfriends and see what they think. This charmer will pull you back into thewonders of being a child.Beautifully illustrated.Surely a classic. 5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Music Flashcards
I bought these cards for my husband who wanted to learn how to read music at the age of 52.He loves them!!!
If they work for him, they will work for your child learning how to read music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I have all three in the series and had them spiral bound at my local copy store to make them easier to work with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great supplement for Little Mozarts lessons.
I think that the flashcards were a must because they really helped reinforce what my child was learning during her lessons. They're big, easy-to-read, and very user-friendly if you have no music background.

The cards review notes, rhythms, music dynamics, and musical symbols.

They're a good, worthwhile purchase.

Product Description
Who wants to practice the piano? Certainly not Lulu. She'd rather listen to her swing squeak, the bell on her bike ring, or the apples thump as she climbs a tree. Even her shoes play a tip-tap tune as she runs on the sidewalk.

Before she knows it, it's Friday afternoon and time for her piano lesson. Lulu's heart sinks. She hasn't practiced all week. Luckily, Lulu's teacher knows how to inspire his small student. A musician herself, Arlene Alda played the clarinet in the Houston Symphony. She understands how one little girl's imagination and a wise teacher can help us all discover the music around us and the fun of expressing that music on the piano. Perfectly complemented by Lisa Desimini's delightful cut-paper collage and digital illustrations, Lulu's Piano Lesson is truly a memorable one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't all learning be made fun, a little step at a time?
"Lulu's Piano Lesson" is a charming picture book for children ages 4-7 about a little girl who interacts creatively with her music learning, thanks to her excellent music teacher, Mr. Sharp. Lulu hears many interesting sounds in her everyday life that she manages to incorporate into her piano piece (which she didn't practice), "Old MacDonald." The way to learning music is not so hard after all, Mr. Sharp encourages Lulu to keep trying and she succeeds, with practice! All children who have experienced conflicting desires (practice, or play outside?) with learning music and piano skills will love "Lulu's Piano Lesson." Adults will enjoy the effortless incorporation of fun and learning that Mr. Sharp presents and encourages in Lulu. The bright, swirling colorful illustrations leave a child's vision dancing with light. Can't all learning be made fun, a little step at a time?

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
The Book Creative Resources for the Early Childhood Classroom is not only geared for classroom teachers but moms who are enthusiastic about finding fun ways for their children. As a parent and teacher, this book is now one of the handiest books in my library as it makes my lessons and thematic planning so much easier. I am also able to help my son with activities based on themes being done or things that he finds curious. I can help create that learning experience for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for teachers
My current center has this book for staff to use in the library and I loved it so much I ordered one for myself. It has a wide range of early childhood themes and includes planning webs for some ideas of how you can extend the theme and ideas for planting the theme into centers. It has some cute art/small group activities and songs/finger plays, but some topics have more than others or they may not be appropriate for your group and you'll need to find more elsewhere. However, the book and multimedia lists have been excellent and overall it has proven to be an excellent investment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great for Montessori Philosophy
This is all based around a montessori style educational philosophy. If you are into that, then this is a great resource for you.Unfortunately, I've been teaching way too long to find this effective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I asked for!
Once again, Amazon does not disappoint! With free shipping, and a clearly labeled description, I knew that this book was in stock and it was exactly what I needed.I received it ahead of schedule in perfect condition. Thanks Amazon!

Book Excerpts:

The art of teaching is based primarily upon the science of psychology. In this book the authors have sought to make clear the principles of psychology which are involved in teaching, and to show definitely their application in the work of the classroom. The book has been written in language as free from technical terms as is possible.

In a discussion of the methods of teaching it is necessary to consider the ends or aims involved, as well as the process. The authors have, on this account, included a chapter on the work of the teacher, in which is discussed the aims of education.

The success or failure of the work of a teacher is determined by the changes which are brought to pass in the children who are being taught. This book, therefore, includes a chapter on the measurement of the achievements of children.

Throughout the book the discussion of the art of teaching is always modified by an acceptance upon the part of the writers of the social purpose of education.

The treatment of each topic will be found to be based upon investigations and researches in the fields of psychology and education which involve the measurement of the achievements of children and of adults under varying conditions.

Wherever possible, the relation between the principle of teaching laid down and the scientific inquiry upon which it is based is indicated.

Any careful study of the mental life and development of children reveals at the same time the unity and the diversity of the process involved.

For the sake of definiteness and clearness, the authors have differentiated between types of mental activity and the corresponding types of classroom exercises.

They have, at the same time, sought to make clear the interdependence of the various aspects of teaching method and the unity involved in mental development. ... Read more

Product Description
Once upon a time,
Though I can't say exactly when,
There lived, away in the country,
A Little Small Red Hen.

She wore a nice little apron,
And a little sunbonnet too,
And she walked picketty pecketty,
As little Hens always do.

!--[Blank Page]--She had lived the whole of her little life,
In the same little house; it stood
All by itself, in a lonely spot,
Just at the edge of a wood.

It was very snug and cosy and warm,
And the garden wasn't big,
But just what a Little Small Red Hen
Could nicely manage to dig.

And once upon a time-
Just the same time, of course,
There also lived a Wicked Old Fox
Among the heath and gorse. ... Read more
