5-0 out of 5 stars I bought this for my adopted children
I have two children adopted from Paraguay and this book is great information and on their level. It is sort of like a social studies book on the country. There are many different chapters covering a lot of areas. There are photos on almost every page. Unlike other books I bought about Paraguay, this one has more on current life than on history.I highly recommend it for the age group of 6 years old and up. ... Read more

Product Description
Rural poverty rates and land inequality in Paraguay are among the highest in Latin America. This book consists of three essays focusing on aspects of the economic development of the Paraguayan agricultural sector. The book seeks to answer the following questions in the rural Paraguayan context: What is the relationship between farm size and productivity? Would land redistribution have a positive impact on rural poverty? Why do rural Paraguayan households with female landowners have lower net farm income than those without female landowners, controlling for farm size? Are land markets an effective means of redistributing access to if not ownership of, land to the rural poor? The book is addressed towards those studying rural economies, land markets and gender, specifically economists, but will also be of interest to sociologists, political scientists, anthropologists and Paraguayanists of all stripes. ... Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Radio Nacional del Paraguay (National Radio of Paraguay) is the official, state-run, international broadcaster of Paraguay. Founded in the 1940s, around 2005 stopped transmitting in Short Wave and currently reaches its international audience exclusively through Internet. Locally it broadcast in Medium Wave, in the frequency 920 kHz. Programs are in Spanish and Guarani language. International broadcasting is broadcasting that is deliberately aimed at a foreign, rather than a domestic, audience. It usually is broadcast by means of longwave, mediumwave, or shortwave radio, but in recent years has also used direct satellite broadcasting and the Internet as means of reaching audiences. Although radio and television programs do travel outside national borders, in many cases reception by foreigners is accidental. However, for purposes of propaganda, transmitting religious beliefs, keeping in touch with colonies or expatriates, education, improving trade, increasing national prestige, or promoting tourism and goodwill, broadcasting services have operated external services since the 1920s. ... Enjoy the tales of Latin America--in Spanish and in English!

In Stories from Latin America/Historias de Latinoamerica, we've placed the Spanish and English stories side by side--lado a lado--so you can practice and improve your reading skills in your new language while enjoying the support of your native tongue. This way, you'll avoid the inconvenience of constantly having to look up unfamiliar words and expressions in a dictionary. Read as much as you can understand, and then look to the facing page for help if necessary. As you read, you can check your comprehension by comparing the two versions of the story. You'll also find a bilingual vocabulary list at the end of the book, so you'll have a handy reference for new words.
