Participants read 5 books over a 10-week period. SERVICES TO ENSURE AFFORDABILITY CCSA helps low-income parents work or attend school by providing them with child care scholarships. In 2001-02, nearly 600 children from low-income families in Orange County received child care scholarships with funds from Smart Start, United Way, UNC, local government, foundations or special contributions. The parents of many more were assisted in securing financial assistance from government agencies. These parents collectively earned $8.3 million, representing a viable, contributing part of our economic community. CCSA helps reduce the operating costs of child care programs by providing nutrition services and meal reimbursements.
