Excerpt:ActiveState Komodo is the name given to a family of integrated development environment (IDE) applications produced by software firm ActiveState . Komodo IDE Komodo IDE is an IDE for dynamic programming languages built on the Mozilla platform. It supports dynamic languages , including JavaScript , Perl , PHP , Python , Ruby , and Tcl ; framework stacks like Ruby on Rails and CakePHP ; and client libraries such as the Yahoo! UI Library and Dojo . ActiveState added browser-side support in Komodo IDE 4.0, including debugging , DOM viewer, catalog support, HTTP Inspector, and code intelligence for languages such as JavaScript , CSS , HTML , and XML , enabling programmers to edit and debug Ajax code and multi-language files. Komodo IDE, although not Open Source , is extensible using standard Mozilla APIs based on XUL , XBL , and XPCOM , plus Python and JavaScript . Komodo IDE is available for Linux , Mac OS X , and Microsoft Windows platforms. Komodo Edit Komodo Edit is a free text editor for dynamic programming languages introduced in January 2007. Komodo Edit inherits many features of Komodo IDE, like the full range of supported languages (Perl , PHP , Python , Ruby , Tcl ) and platforms (Linux , Mac OS X , and Windows ). And like Komodo IDE, Komodo Edit also supports browser-side languages like JavaScript , CSS , HTML , and XML . It was developed for programmers who need a multi-language editor with broad functionality, but not the features of an IDE , like debugging , DOM viewer, interactive shells , and source co... ... Read more

Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Komodo," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Komodo in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Komodo when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Komodo, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

Excerpt: Lesser Sunda Islands -They are split into the independent state of East Timor (Timor-Leste) and the Indonesian provinces of Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Barat) and East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur). The Lesser Sunda Islands consist of two geologically distinct archipelagos. The northern archipelago, which includes Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores and Wetar, is volcanic in origin, a number of these, like Mount Rinjani on Lombok, are still active while others, such as Kelimutu on Flores with its three multi-coloured crater lakes, are extinct. It began to be formed during the Pliocene, about 15 million years ago, as a result of the collision between the Australian and the Asian plates. The islands of the southern archipelago, including Sumba, Timor and Babar, are non-volcanic and appear to belong to the Australian plate. The geology and ecology of the northern archipelago share a similar history, characteristics and processes with the southern Maluku Islands, which continue the same island arc to the east. There is a long history of geological study of these regions since Indonesian colonial times; however, the geological formation and progression is not fully understood, and theories of the geological evolution of the islands changed extensively during the last decades of the 20th century. Lying at the collision...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=453750 ... Read more

Description:
We report the abundance, patterns of distribution and physical characteristics of Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) nests on Komodo Island in Indonesia. A total of 46 Komodo dragon nesting sites were identified, of these 26 nests were considered active for the 2002/2003 season. The distribution of nests coincided with large coastal valleys in northern Komodo Island. There was a significant preference by breeding females to utilize the mound nests (61%) over both open hillside (19.5%) and ground nests (19.5%). Further, within these mound nests, females discriminated for nests based on habitat characteristics, especially sunlight exposure. The main implications for management and conservation drawn from this study is that there is a small number of females nesting annually on the largest island within Komodo National Park. Further, continuation of nesting surveys could provide a cost effective accurate way to gather important long term demographic information on this species. ... Read more

Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Socotra or Soqotra (Arabic سُقُطْرَى ; ) is a small archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean. The largest island, also called Socotra, is about 95% of the landmass of the archipelago. It lies off some 240 kilometres (150 mi) east of the Horn of Africa and 380 kilometres (240 mi) south of the Arabian Peninsula. The island is very isolated and through the process of speciation, a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet. It has been described as the most alien-looking place on Earth. Socotra is part of the Republic of Yemen. It has long been a part of the 'Adan Governorate, but in 2004 it became attached to the Hadhramaut Governorate, which is much closer to the island than 'Adan (although the closest governorate would be Al Mahrah). Map of the Socotra archipelagoThere was initially an Oldoway (or Oldowan) culture in Socotra. Oldoway stone tools were found in the area around Hadibo by V.A. Zhukov, a member of the Russian Complex Expedition in 2008. Socotra appears as Dioskouridou ("of the Dioscurides") in the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, a 1st century A.D. Greek navigation aid. In the notes to his translation of the Periplus, G.W.B. Huntingford remarks that the name Socotra is not Greek in origin, but derives from the Sanskrit dvipa sukhadhara ("island of bliss"). A local tradition holds that the inhabitants were converted to Christianity by Thomas in AD 52. In the 10th century, the Arab geographer Abu Mohammed Al-Hassan Al-Hamdani stated that in his time most of the inhabitants were Christians. Socotra is also mentioned in The Travels of Marco Polo according to which "the inhabitants are baptised Christians and have an "archbishop"" who, it is further explained, "has...http://booksllc.net/?l=de ... Kapitel: Tambora, Timor-Schwert, Nationalpark Komodo, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Lombokstraße, Straße Von Ombai, Straße Von Wetar, Straße Von Alor. Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: West Nusa Tenggara (Indonesian: ) is a province in south-central Indonesia. It covers the western portion of the Lesser Sunda Islands, except for Bali. The two largest islands in the province are Lombok in the west and the larger Sumbawa island in the east. Mataram, on Lombok, is the capital and largest city of the province. The province is administratively divided into eight regencies (kabupaten) and two municipalities (kotamadya): on Sumbawa: Lombok is mainly inhabited by the Sasak ethnic group, with a minority Balinese population, and Sumbawa is inhabited by Sumbawa and Bima ethnic groups. Each of these groups has a local language associated with it as well. The population of the province is 3,821,134; 71 percent of the population lives in Lombok (As of 2000 census). A 2002 United Nations Development Programme report classified West Nusa Tenggara as the least-developed province in Indonesia. In 1938, the Neo Municipality was formed, a self regulated area (Dutch: Zelf Bestuur Regelen). Based on the Lombok government constitution, East Indonesia Presidents' decision on 9 May 1949 No.5/Prv/49, Lombok did not contain a municipality but was an area conducted by Dutch Government. Formerly known as Sunda Kecil (Small Sunda), the West Nusa Tenggara Province became East Indonesia State in 1951. In 1957, the regional government was established. ...http://booksllc.net/?l=de ... Excerpt: The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, and Gili Motang. A member of the monitor lizard family (Varanidae), it is the largest living species of lizard, growing to an average length of 2 to 3 metres (6.6 to 9.8 ft) and weighing around 70 kilograms (150 lb). Their unusual size has been attributed to island gigantism, since there are no other carnivorous animals to fill the niche on the islands where they live. However, recent research suggests that the large size of komodo dragons may be better understood as representative of a relic population of very large varanid lizards that once lived across Indonesia and Australia, most of which died out after contact with modern humans, along with other megafauna. Fossils very similar to V. komodoensis have been found in Australia dating to greater than 3.8 million years ago, and its body size remained stable on Flores, one of the handful of Indonesian islands where it is currently found, ever since Flores ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=17360 ... Excerpt: Cnidaria (pronounced with a silent c) is a phylum containing over 9,000 species of animals found exclusively in aquatic and mostly marine environments. Their distinguishing feature is cnidocytes, specialized cells that they use mainly for capturing prey. Their bodies consist of mesoglea, a non-living jelly-like substance, sandwiched between two layers of epithelium that are mostly one cell thick. They have two basic body forms: swimming medusae and sessile polyps, both of which are radially symmetrical with mouths surrounded by tentacles that bear cnidocytes. Both forms have a single orifice and body cavity that are used for digestion and respiration. Many cnidarian species produce colonies that are single organisms composed of medusa-like or polyp-like zooids, or both. Cnidarians' activities are coordinated by a decentralized nerve net and simple receptors. Several free-swimming Cubozoa and Scyphozoa possess balance-sensing statocysts, and some have simple eyes. Not all cnidarians reproduce sexually. Many have complex lifecycles with asexual polyp stages and sexual medusae, but some omit either the polyp or the medusa stage. Cnidarians were for a long time grouped with Ctenophores in the phylum Coelenterata, but in...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=6621 ... Read more

...http://booksllc.net/?l=fr ... Read more
