As Deputy Governor for Education and workforce, Dr. Loucks is the spokesperson for the Governor's office in matters regarding education and workforce in Illinois. With the assistance of the Governor and his staff, she is responsible for shaping and overseeing education policies across the state. Dr. Loucks Serves as Co-Chair of the Workforce Investment Board and serves on the National Governors Association Workforce Chairs Executive Committee. She serves as the Illinois Education Commissioner of the States and in that role serves on the Policy and Priorities Committee as well as Governor Ryan's Task Force on Early Learning and Child Care. She serves on the Attorney General's Youth-At-Risk and safe School Commission, the state's Education Funding Board, the Governor's Task Force on Teacher Quality (NCTAF) and project Impact (Hispanic dropout project). She also serves on Mrs. Ryan's Future for Kids Task Force. With areas of specialization in staff development, organization development, career exploration, workforce training, school climate, and parent involvement in the education of children, Dr. Loucks has been an education consultant and workshop presenter across the state and nationally. She authored numerous educational materials and co-authored two books on integrating students with disabilities in the classroom, and she has also written a parent involvement manual for the Illinois State Board of Education and the book "Reengaging Families in the Education of Middle School Children" published by the National Association of Middle Schools, 1997.

Since 1993, Prevent Child Abuse Illinois has provided a variety of brochures and booklets to our prevention partners hospitals, clinics, public health departments, schools, social service agencies, and community groups. These partners, in turn, distribute this positive parenting material to people in their own communities. In the next 12 months, Prevent Child Abuse Illinois plans to double the number of prevention partners involved in this program. Together, we will distribute nearly 200,000 pieces of literature to parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others who come in contact with children.
