4-0 out of 5 stars Lovely story with wonderful illustrations
I love reading The Little Polar Bear ~~ it's a darling story about a little polar bear who gets separated from his dad while learning how to hunt. And Lars ends up traveling halfway around the world before he landed on a tropical beach.

For the first time in his life, he sees something different from his icy homeland ~~ trees, different animals and even a chamelon. He makes friends with Henry, the hippomatous. And through Henry, he finds his way home.

The illustrations are among the best. I just love looking at the pictures (so do my babies!) and the story is fun to read. It's a true adventure story guaranteed to get your kid's attention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Polar Bear
Little Polar Bear is a very cute story, of a young polar bear named Lars, who was out with his father learning how to hunt. But as the night went on he drifted off to sleep, and something unexpected happened. This thing that happened to Lars taught him about new surroundings, and taught him new things he didnt know.He met some new friends, that he will never forget.

Yes, I would recommend this book becuase of the amazing things Lars goes through with the help of some new friends. There are some parts in the story that will make you smile and laugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite book when i was little
I love this book!!The illustrations are wonderful and they always captured my attention. The story is of a little polar bear, Lars who goes on an adventure away from his clean, white home in the North Pole.He makes a new friend, who helps him on his adventure.

I still love this book. I take it babysitting with me sometimes, and all the kids have liked it too.

4-0 out of 5 stars lars the polar bear
This book is a delightful childrens book about a little polar bear who loves adventure.Lars spends the day fishing with his dad and then they go off to sleep.During their rest the ice cracks and father and son become separated.Lars drifts away, arrives in a new land and is suddenly met by a huge hippo...read on to find out what happens to Lars and if how he meets back up with his dad.Short and sweet, aand a nice book to intorduce children to polar bears and the north pole.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Bear is going around the world
After now knowing Lars the little Polar Bear for more than 10 years in Germany, was I more than delighted to find also an English translationg to give to my cousins 2 year old daughter in CA.

What wonderful stories these are, about nature, friendship and courage.
The coloring is extraodinary, like each book from the north south publishing company. Each edition a treasure.

A great book to share a new story with your children.
Though sadly enough the new movie starring Lars the Polar Bear seems to be not available in the US. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's FAVORITE book
This is a simple, charming book. The rhyming text is short enough to hold my little one's attention (he's almost 11 months), and the pictures are adorable. We're wearing out the library's copy, and I'm VERY disappointedto see it's out of print.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated!
Little Bear and his friends are traditional toys which are illustrated as beautifully in the books as they are on the tv program. The little story about Little Bear building up to his bed-time is set out as a ryhme and oneach page he carries out a daily activity with a different companion whichsmall children will recognise and adore. 4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet little teddy bear book
This little book measures approximately two and a half inches across by three inches high, and contains a series of heart-warming quotations and pictures of teddy bears. It would make an ideal small gift for a child or for someone who collects bears and soft toys as it's beautifully produced and well photographed.

The bears photographed are a mixture of modern and older toys, and have been set up in a variety of scenes such as hanging up the washing or decorating a vase of flowers.

The quotes include the usual one from Evelyn Waugh's "Brideshead Revisited" and other sources and the book will make an enjoyable addition to the bear lover's bookshelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cheerful and Yet Meaningful
I really like this deck for a numer of reason.I can relate to bears and the cute candy figures are irresistable. While I haven't done any readings with this deck of cards as of yet I was impressed how they retained the Original Rider Waite Smith format.Other's I've discussed the deck with like the Little White Book and have found the "Tasks" section for each card useful.

I'd reccomend this deck for people who want a cheery deck that still retains much of the more meaningful symbolism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yummy Bears Tarot
This is my new favorite deck, and I own about a dozen. I look forward to my daily reading and find these cards are easy to connect with and very accurate and easy to read. They are elemental and whimsical at the same time. A very wonderful deck for beginners, old timers and a great teaching tool for kids. They are a sweet and tasty treat I enjoy every day. Try some ..a healthy and enlightining snack. Goes great with Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning.Learning the Tarot: A Tarot Book for Beginners

Product Description
Need a degree from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, or MIT? No problem. Send us a check!Do you know where your doctor, lawyer, or clergyman earned his or her degree? In 1986, a congressional committee report concluded that "more than 500,000 working Americans have a fraudulent degree." The media hardly noticed. The public yawned. The academic world buried its head in the sand. And things have gotten much, much worse since then.

Fueled by the Internet, more than 300 active degree mills are selling thousands of fake degrees each week, including medical and law degrees. Their total sales exceed $500 million a year, yet the damage that their "customers" do is immeasurable. In a recent case, a man with a fake medical degree was put on trial for manslaughter after a patient died from incorrect medication. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Allen Ezell, who specialized in degree fraud during his 35 years with the FBI, and John Bear, prolific author and expert witness on the subject in federal and state courts, reveal the shocking dimensions of this growing scam in this thoroughly researched exposé. They show how degree mills operate, offer detailed warning signs that a school might be fake, tell how to check up on anyone’s degree, and what to do when a fake degree is discovered. Also provided are information and links to useful lists of bad and fake schools. This is an invaluable reference book for personnel departments in business and academia, as well as for the average consumer.

The authors have made more than 200 television appearances on the subject, including on Good Morning America, 60 Minutes, and The Today Show. As the foremost experts on degree mills, Bear and Ezell have been interviewed on the radio and in magazines and newspapers worldwide. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book with great info.
I loved this book. I was looking for information about why a medical licensing bill I supported was being hammered by some people who claimed to be doctors.

What I found was that they were all graduates of diploma mills who had bought the degree and the BS hook, line and sinker. They honestly thought that a correspondence course made them a doctor. Insane. And kind of sad.

This book had great information to find out if someone has a bogus degree, how "accrediting agencies" are set up by the same diploma mills that they claim to accredit, and what can be done about it. It was written by the FBI guys who spent their careers going after these scam artists. There are several chapters of information that is very useful as well as some jolly good stories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential for any HR Director
A very eye opening book on unaccredited universities, how they work, and why the continue to exist (lack of centralized enforcement allows them to avoid regulation, among other things).Every HR director should read this immediately and make sure they have adequate academic screening in place before they become the next company to be embarrased by having an unaccredited degree holder of theirs exposed in the press.

Could use an updated version to cover two recent occurences. The Senate hearing in 2004 (Bogus Degrees and Unmet Expectations) that investigated Kennedy-Western University (now Warren National University) and others that either flat out sold "degrees" for cash or waived half of the degree for "life experience" and then required some perfunctory work for the rest. The second is the sentencing of the owners of St. Regis University and the publication of their "degree holders".

5-0 out of 5 stars Do you know where your doctor, lawyer, or employee has earned his degree?
Do you know where your doctor, lawyer, or employee has earned his degree? If you're not familiar with the school or don't know, you'd better check out the eye-opening Degree Mills: The Billion-Dollars Industry That Has Sold Over A Million Fake Diplomas. With the rise of the Internet has risen over 300 active degree mills selling thousands of fake degrees weekly - including medical and legal degrees. Author Ezell specialized in degree fraud in 35 years of work with the FBI and here provides some invaluable insights for any business manager or professional.

5-0 out of 5 stars extremely easy to read, over & over, should be re-published
This book for 3-4 year olds (and any adult)I could read over and over again, the pictures complement the text and the quiet humor of both is worth any money.A great pity that this book is out of print.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic Quotes and Pictures for All Former Children
For those who love teddy bears, here is the book! Very cute, aesthetically pleasing little book with many pictures and nostalgic quotes. This is a perfect gift for all occasions. Teddy bears are not common in all parts of the world. While people who grew up with their favorite teddy bear(s) can reminisce their childhood reading these quotes, anyone who grew up anywhere in the in the world with an inseparable toy of any kind will identify with the messages.

The teddy pictures range from small to medium sized, unclothed to fully clothed, bow-tied to regular-tied, dressed in pajamas to formally attired and adorned with flowers and pretty hats, injured in a sling to perfectly and totally healthy, and plain to decorative. In all pictures, they are full of affection, warmth, and obviously inseparable from the owner whose picture is absent in the book. They seem to like to play with family pets, play tennis, play in sand, enjoy beaches, dine with the owner/friend, look out the windows, keep company when the owner sleeps, climb stepping stools to get honey from the kitchen cabinet, and sleep in toy boxes! They have close teddy bear friends of all sizes themselves, and they all seem to come from all walks of life!

The quotes range from cute to homesick to philosophical. A child's dearest toy-friend has been portrayed so artistically, so well-illustrated, with many thoughts of love and comfort.

CAUTION! The former children who are still attached to one or more toys and have kept them are in danger of holding on this book, too!

3-0 out of 5 stars A collection of newspaper columns. Very British! Very nostaglic!
The main author, an OBE, had been a columnist for The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Daily Mail, and the founding editior of Euromoney in his four decade of journalistic career. This twelve chapter book is essentially a collection of his columns from 198x to 200x. His writing skill is good and style sarcastically exquisite. However, as what he wrote was primarily of London business and people, I really couldnt enjoy this book the same way I do with most American books that talked about big names and issues I am much more familiar with. In case you are a London financier I am quite sure you will like this book and have fun. If you are a foreigner and just wanna read for leisure, I suggest you to give this a pass.

As a content page is not available here on Amazon, I would like to take the privilege to type it to give you a better idea of what this book is about, though briefly.

Part 1: City
Chapter 1: Bulls, Bears, Booms and Busts (White knuckle rides on the world's markets - and logging the dot.coms off)

Chapter 2: Currency Cocktails (I like this the most)(How do you like your money - shaken, stirred or with a twist)

Chapter 3: The Good, theBad and the Ugly (Heros and villains of the financial world, from the Queen Mother to Robert Maxwell)

Chapter 4: The Leaning Tower of Lime Street (The scandals and travails of Lloyd;s of London)

Chapter 5: Chancellors and Governors (From Montagu Norman and Winston Churchill to Mervyn King and Gordon Brown - and even Che Guevara)

Chapter 6: The Boondoggle Circuit (The curious world of multinational talking shops and conferences)

Part 2: Suburban
Chapter 7: Dear Occupier (The perils of the housing market, and my plan to move into the Ritz)

Chapter 8: I.K. Gricer's Railway Jottings (A Platonic view of civilized travel as it is and as it might be)

Chapter 9: Captain Threadneedle Reports (My correspondence keeps an eye on the City's favoourite sport)

Chapter 10: Lunch at the Dealmakers' Arms (I say, waiter, put this restaurant on the bill)

Part 3: Hong Kong West
Chapter 11: Old City, New City (Reconstrucing an offshore financial centre on the north shore of the Thames)

Chapter 12: Goodbye to all that (A cheerful farewell to the old City life, and welcome to Hong Kong West)
