He is not interested in our clothing or our outward appearance. He wants to know us as we really are. In fact, He does know us as we really are. Wouldn't it be great to have a place where people could really be themselves. Where worship was from the heart and the Bible actual had meaning for our lives? Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a family that would respond to your every need because they really cared about you? Where forgiveness is the rule and conflict is the rare exception. Beechwood Baptist Church is just such a place and just such a people. We recognize that the Bible is the perfect measure of truth and righteousness. As such, the Scripture is trustworthy and dependable. The problem is that we as humans are not.

The popular image of him is that of a man wearing camel’s hair tunic with a leather belt, in an angry mood. Bible says he ate locusts and wild honey. We can presume for certain that he has a tough character in order to live in the desert and bear life or death situations! A kind of taleban or Afghan militia life (before and after American bombing), to be more accurate. What attracts me most in his tough personality is that he was preparing people for a new religion . Religion for the people of Israel was to live by the word of the law. It was a kind of passive attitude, where one sits comfortably with a torah in hand; a kind of attitude where people consider themselves self-righteous having little regard for change. John the Baptist was inviting people for a change… reform. Advice to all sectors: Share - he who has two coats share with those who have none; also food. Tax collectors - do not collect more than expected. Soldiers - rob no one by violence or false accusations (applicable to our policemen too). In today’s situation John the Baptist might have added few more categories of people, like: To psychologists - do not create more and more classifications of mental disorders to make people feel more sick in order to extract money…? A dynamic and agile, challenging religion for sure was proposed by John the Baptist. In nutshell: a religion that prepares one for action.

    Extractions: Religion - Baptist I was raised in a Catholic church, but in my mid twenties, after attending a revival, and began attending a Baptist church. For nearly thirty years, I attended several Baptist churches and was active in regular attendance and bible study. For a reason I do not fully understand, I got out of the "habit" of going to church and did not attend for several years. During this time I knew I should be in church attendance, but I just kept putting it off. One day, I found a flyer on my gate from a local WELS church about an upcoming Vacation Bible School. It sounded interesting, so I decided to go. I had never attended a Lutheran service or could I remember ever talking to anyone who was a Lutheran. At first I noticed there were some similarities to both the Catholic church as well as the Baptist church. This seemed to make sense to me as Luther was a Catholic monk, and started the Protestant reformation. I have been attending this local church for over two years now, but have not expressed a desire to join, or have I been approached by any at the church officers to become a member. In an effort to learn more about WELS, the pastor gave me a copy of Luther's Small Catechism. I also searched the web, and found this website with additional information.
